Customized tour with excellent service!
We hired Mukisa Safaris because they were extremely responsive as we planned our customized tour of Uganda. The guide, Joan, was very helpful and great at identifying birds, while helping me to better identify them. We appreciated that she helped us learn a bit of Luganda so we could impress our hosts at varying locales. Solomon, our driver, was very professional, safe, and courteous. We enjoyed his company on our trip. The accommodations and food were excellent. We were happy to eat local food, and most of the restaurants we went to were happy to serve it. Joan often called ahead to restaurants to let them know we were coming and would like to eat local food, which made our meals go smoothly.

Perfect Week in Uganda w/Joan and John
Jordan and I worked with Mukisa to create a bespoke, private tour in Uganda for 9 days this October. Based on one of their itineraries, we elected to visit Jinja for rafting, the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Richard emailed us back and forth when setting up the details of the trip. In the booking process, his recommendations for accommodations were excellent; the safari lodges were stayed at, particularly the one at Bwindi were stunning. We decided to book with Mukisa because they had received such excellent reviews and because of Richard's prompt, detailed and attentive communication. The trip lived up to all of our expectations. Joan, our guide, and John, our driver, made us so comfortable, informed and cared for, they felt like old friends by the end of the trip. They were knowledgable and caring, and we always thoughtful to stop on long drives so we could have a coffee and snack! I also want to note very few tour operators in Uganda that we spotted used female guides. Mukisa does and Joan was OUTSTANDING. I was thrilled to be able to support a LOCAL (i.e. Ugandan, not British) company that empowers WOMEN as our tour company. Yes, we saw the Big Five and the falls and the gorillas, but I also got a real sense of Ugandan people and culture (and food!) through my chats with Joan and John. For a safe, trustworthy company dedicated to exceptional safaris, book with Mukisa!

Great experience!
We did a tour starting in Entebbe, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison, Kibale, Queen Elisabeth NP, Lake Mutanda, gorilla, chimpansee and golden monkey trekking, then to Kigali to visit the Genocide Memorial.
We had a great time, everything was well organized, friendly and professional driver and guide.
I hope we can come again!

A perfect tour
We are so pleased we booked with Mukisa. At the time of booking we did not know anyone who had been to Uganda and so we had no recommendations to rely on. However, from reading the wonderful reviews (which do not exaggerate) and after some emails with Richard, who is extremely responsive and helpful, we knew we could trust this company and that they were the right option to book with.
Mukisa was happy to tailor our plans so that it was completely bespoke to what we wanted out of our holiday. In general, this was to see as much wildlife as possible! We were lucky to see all the big 5, along with cheetahs, hippos, giraffes, chimpanzees and many more (including lots of birds). Cultural experiences were also very interesting and we enjoyed the food, which was tasty everywhere we visited.
Our guide and driver were brilliant and made sure that we had an informative and comfortable time. Our driver made us feel 100% safe on the roads and we enjoyed seeing so much of the country by road over the course of a 15 day trip.
The visit to the mountain gorillas exceeded even our high expectations - this is something that everybody should do in their lifetime!
Accommodation was lovely throughout the trip, much of it in safari lodges where you are close to nature and can enjoy the sounds of the animals in the vicinity. There are many different options for different budgets which Richard is happy to discuss in detail.
In terms of COVID, Mukisa made it easy for us to understand the entry requirements and we did not feel while we were travelling that COVID got in the way of our experience. It felt very safe - with lots of face masks and sanitiser available.

I was traveling alone and Mukisa Safaris took good care of me.
I was impressed that Mukisa Safaris hires female guides (I didn't see any others). She was very knowledgeable -- especially about the birds. I also had a separate driver which was nice so he could concentrate on the roads and not worry about reservations, where to eat lunch, etc. The vehicle was well maintained and had a pop-up top allowing me to stand during game drives. There was great variety in the lodges - each had something to recommend it -- a stunning view of the plains, a nice lakeside setting, or my favorite, The Bush Lodge, which required an escort to go out after dark because of roaming elephants and hippos.

Fascinated by their service, the scenary and history of Uganda!
Mukisa Safaris Uganda exceeded my expectations in terms of great customer service and being a well-organized company on my 7days safari in Uganda. The email communication exchanges for inquiry, confirmation of booking and arrangements were prompt.
On arrival, I and Jessica were welcomed by Paul and Richard who drove us to our booked hotel in the Ugandan city- Kampala. Being evening, the city had a lot of traffic Jam and we were advised to keep car windows up. The hotel was of midrange and their services were extremely excellent.
Our safari started early morning the next day and we first visited the source of the Nile River in Jinja and then after drove to Sipi falls. We had amazing experiences in Karamoja especially at night where you would hear voices of lions roaring. We interacted with the local people who are still attached to their cultural ways of life as exhibited in the way they dress, build their houses and cherish their cows. During the game drives in both Kidepo and Murchison falls national park, we were able to see a variety of animals and some at a close range. It was such an awesome experience seeing elephants and giraffes feeding.
Our guides Veronica and Paul were wonderful, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about their country. Paul knew much about the geography and history of the entire region. He shared with us a story about the Bachwezi and how they were considered to be demi gods and just disappeared. It was an interesting story though seemed mythical. Veronica was excellent at spotting birds and knew them by names.
With great pleasure, I highly recommend Mukisa safaris Uganda for anyone planning to visit Uganda to seek their services.

Amazing tour with great guides!
We were in constant contact with Richard, the company owner, during our planning process of the trip. He was beyond helpful and quick to respond to any questions/concerns we had about traveling across the world to Uganda. We were also able to look at all of the different tours and Richard tailored a tour based on all of the sights and experiences that we wanted to do while in Uganda. Upon arrival at the airport in Entebbe, we were greeted warmly by our guide, Joan, and our driver for the trip, John. Everything from then on was close to perfect, making it the trip of a lifetime. We had excellent luck spotting many animals, from lions and giraffes to so many elephants we couldn't keep track. Joan and John were excellent at answering many of the questions that we had about the country and their culture, as well as their unbelievable animal spotting skills. All of the accommodations were wonderful, especially the Bush Lodge. Our trip ended with the gorilla tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. That was by far one of the most extraordinary things that we were able to experience. I highly recommend Mukisa Safaris.

utterly beautiful journey
We were enormously professionally guided by John & Veronica. We have seen many wild animals & the trip to the gorillas was extraordinary. The locations where we stayed overnight were magical. We were a group of six (2 divorced women with 4 children in their twenties) and we had a hell of a time. Mukisa Safaris Uganda is recommended for a beautifull journey.

Absolutely perfect safari-informative, rewarding, fun and one most enjoyable
Mukisa Safaris met every one of my expectations. Our guide Hamidah and our driver Jon were most professional, helpful, and knowledgable. The chemistry between them was great. I learned so much about Uganda, Rwanda, the animals, and culture from these individuals. I always felt safe and secure with the individuals. The safari and accommodations were everything that was advertised. I can't say enough about Mukisa, Hamidah Nakato, and John Mpaji. The individuals, activities, and accommodations always exceeded my expectations.

A trip of a lifetime!!
My fiance and I traveled with Mukisa Safaris for a 7-day trip to Jinja, Sipi Falls, Kidepo, and Murchison Falls. The communication with Richard was excellent from the time of booking, to meeting us at our Kampala hotel to introduce our guide and driver, and he even met us at the end of our trip at our hotel to debrief on the experience. Richard helped customize a trip for us that included eco-lodges and some hikes. Our guide, Veronica, and driver, John, were amazing travel companions and were so professional, patient, and caring throughout. Veronica is very knowledgeable about the wildlife and birds and we always felt very safe with John's driving. We really enjoyed sharing many of our meals together and learning more about Ugandan culture from them. We enjoyed a 3 hour hike through the community near Sipi Falls and visiting 3 different waterfalls. Kidepo was an unforgettable place and we saw so much wildlife during a 4-hour game drive and then relaxed in the afternoon at the lodge and enjoyed the views. Murchison Falls boat ride and game drive are also not to be missed as well as the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The only thing we would have done differently would be to extend our trip to 10 days to be able to spend 2 nights at each lodge. We would highly recommend this tour company to anyone and we've already recommended them to friends!
