The Caracal Safari (Premium Camping) was a faultless safari, thoroughly recommend!
5/5

The Caracal Safari - Premium Camping
From meeting Much (Guide) at our hotel all the way through to him dropping us at the airport after 9 fantastic days we were treated as individuals and never felt anything was too much bother or that we were merely one in (presumably) a long line of guests. Phosta and Katjie were an absolutely amazing camp team, always ready with a smile and a laugh at any time of day – even 5am in the morning!

Much was an amazing guide – we learnt a phenomenal amount from him. His knowledge and ability to ‘read’ and ‘communicate’ with animals was astonishing and we soon felt very at ease and safe amongst the animals we encountered. Much was great at spotting wildlife and animals and his driving was faultless (as a driving instructor myself, I was in awe of his off road skills!). We had an absolute bonus to have Kjosi (staff member from the Reservations Team) on board on this trip and Kjosi was a fantastic spotter of all things moving!

Camp life exceeded our expectations with surprisingly comfortable beds, immaculately clean bedding and a surprisingly adaptable toilet (toilet seat and earth dug hole) and shower area (warm showers provided at least once per day). The mirror, shower, hand and body lotion were completely unexpected and very welcomed additions to our ensuite facilities! We also certainly did not expect the daily ‘housekeeping’ of our tent which was actually lovely and made us really feel looked after (as if were didn’t feel that already!). We were always waved off and greeted by either Phosta or Katjie which was so personal and lovely.

We stayed at three different camps and the dismantling and re-erecting of the camp were done by Phosta and Katjie 'behind the scenes' and didn't impact our routines at all. We left one camp intact and arrived at a new one like magic with exactly the same equipment, tents, luggage, etc and our tent was always situated with a lovely view out our front tent area.

Meals were superb and we could not fault the quality, quantity and variance of the meals. For these to be prepared, and cooked, with the facilities Phosta and Katjie had was amazing – and always carried out very professionally and with beautiful smiles.

We had previously been on three safaris and were initially reluctant to do another. We therefore wanted something different - and this was definitely it. Jeep (very comfortable with on board fridge for cold drinks) safaris usually twice a day, mokoro trips on three days to get very up close to animals and terrain and also a boat trip on the River Khwai were all amazing and added to the very different feel of this safari. Although this trip may initially look expensive, it is very much value for money and worth every penny. We would thoroughly recommend this. Great equipment, superb meals, friendly and very knowledgeable staff who constantly provided new knowledge and always made us feel very safe.

All in all, an exceptionally enjoyable trip and memories to last more than a lifetime. Thank you Bushways :-)

Safari of a life time!!!
5/5

We have just returned from the best mobile safari experience we have ever had with Bush Ways Safaris. They organised a tailor made 10 day trip for us starting in Moremi and travelling through Savuti , Kwhai, Chobe and ending in Victoria Falls. We stayed in a combination of premium camping and Bush Ways lodges. The camp sites were in beautiful settings and very comfortable. The lodges were lovely and all the staff were warm, hospitable and welcoming.

Moscow was our excellent guide, tracker and wildlife spotter. He was so knowledgeable and we enjoyed his fun, his professionalism and his great company throughout our safari. K.K, K.D and K.K2 were amazing and travelled with us setting up our camps, catering and making sure we had warm showers and welcome when we came back from our game drives.

The food was absolutely amazing - good variety , including homemade bread, stir fries, steaks, chicken, salads, vegetables and even deserts. It was well presented and served on white tablecloths under the stars. We even had a birthday chocolate cake made on the open fire. The team went above and beyond to make our camping experience a memorable and comfortable one.

We had the most incredible wildlife sightings that we have ever seen too. We loved our morning Amarula coffee stops and sundowners amongst the game in the most picturesque of settings. We went on a small boat trip on the Delta and Chobe River where we were up close to elephants and hippos.

We also went on a helicopter flip over the Delta which was an amazing experience - seeing the Delta waterways from above.

It was the most magical and unforgettable experience. It exceeded all our expectations and we can’t thank the Bush Ways team enough for this immersive experience. It was excellent in every aspect from start to finish, and really shows off the gem that Botswana Delta is. A trip of a life time.

Bush Ways is the answer to any Botswana question
5/5

Our experience with Bush Ways Mobile Safaris redefines the notion of premium camping, seamlessly blending comfort and adventure. From spacious tents with modern amenities, fully customised safari vehicles, to gourmet meals served under the stars, each moment is a celebration of the finer things in life against the backdrop of the African bush.

Wildlife Encounters & Nature Appreciation: No matter how many safaris you’ve experienced in other African countries, Botswana is entirely unique.

Wildlife in Botswana is an in-person wildlife documentary and the narrator is your Bush Ways Safaris guide. In five minute segments, you can see a pride of 13 lions at sunset with young cubs playfully chewing on male lion adolescent ears, charging peers and pouncing on adult lionesses. In another segment, a breeding herd of elephants racing towards a waterhole for a drink, only to find they are in fact being chased by a bull in musth. Not forgetting the iconic segment of a newborn Cape Buffalo calf, wet with afterbirth, being approached by a herd of uncertain bulls and nurturing cows as it takes its first steps.

Our Guides: Moscow and Gabriel (eventually nicknamed Mad-Hatter Moscow and Goshawk Gabby) were exceptional. It is such a skill to please the appetites of three very different safari-goers all in the same vehicle - birders, botanists and wildlife enthusiasts. Yet, for Gabby and Moscow, it appeared to be a breeze.

Gabby is a testament to Bush Ways Safaris’ commitment to the Tswana people (also known as the Batswana) by nurturing sustainable growth and creating a positive community impact. Gabby started as a Chef, worked his way up to lodge guide and finally became a mobile safari guide, the most esteemed position in Bush Ways Safaris. He is one of many Bush Ways Safaris employees who have been able to nurture and grow their passions into full-time careers.

Culinary Experiences: Exploring the culinary delights of Bush Ways Safaris’ kitchen is a gastronomic journey like no other. From flame grilled steak fillets to fragrant lamb tagines, all cooked over the campfire using traditional cooking techniques that tantalise the taste buds. Bread, cakes and pastries are baked in a Dutch oven each day.

Community Engagement: Engaging with local communities and supporting grassroots initiatives enables Bush Ways Safaris and their guests to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people encountered on safari.

Cultural Immersion: Bush Ways Safaris provides the opportunity for a cultural exchange in each of the communities it passes through. Keeping in mind that much of Botswana's wildlife is protected, this naturally opposes the traditional ways of the San Bushmen who would live off the land. In an effort to support conservation, the San Bushmen communities within protected areas have taken employment at local lodges and conservancies.

Locations: Whether on the lodge to lodge, adventure camping or premium camping safari with Bush Ways Safaris, every location has been expertly chosen to ensure you are amidst the action for the best possible experience of the village or wildlife reserve. Every lodge has a breathtaking view of flood plains, rivers or pans. Each camp site puts you in the middle of the morning leopard calls or late night hyena whoops.

I have been completely blown away by my experience. From the sheer variety of birds and bugs to the sprawling savannahs teeming with wildlife, each moment is a testament to the beauty and boundless diversity of nature in Botswana.
