My husband and I wanted to visit Rwanda to see the gorillas, monkeys, and explore the country. After much research, we found New Horizon Africa Safaris. We contacted Emmanuel and told him what we wanted to see, and asked him to suggest any additional places we shouldn’t miss while in Rwanda. He provided a thoughtful list of destinations and experiences, and we quickly agreed on the perfect itinerary.

Good People, Amazing Experiences, Great Company!
My husband & I went with New Horizon Safaris for an Ibyiwacu Cultural Village Experience at the Gorilla Guardians Village and a Chimp Trek in Nyungwe National Park. It was the best-priced safari I found in our extensive search for these two activities.
Nshuti was our point of contact for coordinating our personalized, 3-day tour with them, and he was very responsive to my e-mails. He was also very open and accommodating, helping us tailor a tour just for us that fit our interests and budget.
Nshuti was also our tour guide and driver for the Cultural Village Experience. He was personable and patient, even teaching us some words in the native language of Rwanda and sharing much knowledge of the people and places he took us to. We really enjoyed our time with Nshuti.
Just a note...it can be loud in the car due to the noises of traffic, so just ask the drivers to speak louder if needed.
If you love indigenous people and their cultures, the Gorilla Guardians Village is a great experience and a worthy cause to support. You learn about the inspiring transformation of the native people from gorilla poachers to gorilla guardians. There are also many hands-on activities to try out. We had a blast trying on the clothing, getting pictures, helping to grind the grain, dancing, and even drumming! Jen was our tour guide inside the village, and she was sweet, knowledgeable and spoke English well.
Yuhi was the driver for our 2-day chimp trek safari. He was right on schedule for our pickup and literally went the extra mile---many extra miles--for us when we needed. It was an educational experience and honor to get to know Yuhi and his life experiences.
The chimp trek was amazing even though some of the terrain was rough. It was awesome to watch the chimpanzees in their natural habitat. We were lucky to find the chimps relatively quickly, and the guides were patient as we observed them, answering any questions we had. There are also porters available for hire during the hike. This is a separate fee, so bring cash if you can. The porters make the trek much easier by carrying bags, freeing up your hands for balance, and providing walking sticks and a helping hand to steady you or pull you up. Peter was our helper, and he was very thoughtful and attentive, making sure to be right there next to us whenever we needed help navigating the steps and muddy hill.
* Important Note: Most companies and individuals will accept American money. However, the Rwandan government does not acknowledge the value of U.S. bills that are older and have markings or tears, so please screen the bills you take and make sure you ask the company what year is the cutoff, so the money you bring is usable. Cash can be ideal for paying for tours and tipping.
The first vehicle we took was older, but the second vehicle was newer and cleaner. Also, my husband and I try to stay well-hydrated, so we needed a lot of water. Just ask, and they will provide you with the clean, bottled water you need.
We definitely recommend New Horizon Safaris, Nshuti, and Yuhi for those who want to see some of the highlights of the very clean and beautiful country of Rwanda! We felt very blessed to experience the remarkable creatures and people there.

Reliable, trustfully and well organised.
’ve never thought that I could be so fascinated by nature in Rwanda. I had such a splendid experience during 1day Safari in Akagera National Park thanks to the New Horizon Africa Safaris. It was an amazing day full of surprises. Everything was well planned and organised. Our guide ( who was a taxi driver as well) explained to us all facts about wildlife in Rwanda. I would like to thank him for such a wonderful experience throughout. I really enjoyed the trip :-)
Nowadays, the travel industry has a very competitive environment and everyone offers almost the same price. So price is no longer a trigger that attracts customers. Incredible Experience with New Horizon Africa Safaris – Highly Recommended!
This August, we had the chance to enjoy a truly unforgettable one-night safari with New Horizon Africa Safaris in the southern part of Rwanda. Our trip included an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience in Nyungwe National Park, the breathtaking Canopy Walk, and the newly opened zip line – all of which exceeded our expectations.
What really stood out was the professionalism and flexibility of the company. Due to a delay in our connecting flight, we had to reschedule the safari with less than 12 hours' notice. Despite the last-minute change, New Horizon Africa Safaris handled everything with amazing efficiency and kindness. They quickly reorganized the itinerary for the next day without any issues, which we truly appreciated.
A special mention goes to our guide and driver, Emmanuel. From the very beginning, he made sure we were comfortable, clearly explained the itinerary, and shared so much valuable information about Rwanda, its history, nature, and culture. He was not only knowledgeable, but also extremely kind and attentive, always ready to answer any question we had.

Efficient, well-organized, and seamless
I did both the gorilla trekking tour at Volcanoes NP, as well as a customized half-day Kigali tour with New Horizon. Both were executed flawlessly. Clear pick-up location and time, no issues with transportation, and my driver/guide, Theo, was so wonderful. If I do come back to Rwanda, I would use their company again without a moment of hesitation.

Great 2 day Chimpanzee trekking tour!
We had an amazing 2 days with Emmanuel. The 2 day Chimpanzee trekking tour allows you to get a little of everything Rwanda has to offer from history, culture, business, and nature. Emmanuel took care of everything and was very knowledgeable and a safe driver. Highly recommend this tour and thus company.
