Great Honeymoon experience
We had picked Kenya for our honeymoon and wanted a mixture of relaxing beach time and safari. Looking into the safari offers we stumbled upon Mattaw Safaris and eventually went with them as they were super friendly while being professional and seemed to have a much smaller operation than most other, much more commercial offers. - We were not disappointed.
It is important to note, that many of the tourism businesses in Kenya are owned by foreigners for example Chinese or Indian businesses so most of the profit does not contribute to any local development. Picking a safari offer we were happy to have signed with Mattaw as they are running only four Safari vehicles and put every penny into running an orphan village in the west of Kenya. Bud never smeared it into our faces, but the locals we met working for him were openly happy and glad that Mattaw Safaris is not just another foreigner making quick money in Africa but someone who contributes to the local community.
Bud organized the full week: transport, lodging, itinerary. The plan was pickup and drop-off in Nairobi and visits to Amboseli, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara National Parks. Charles was our guide and driver; he is very knowledgeable, and we were glad to have him as he also knew the parks very well which contributed to a great experience. We learned a lot about Kenya and Kenyan culture. All picked accommodations, as well as the order of National Park visits, was great. We would go with him again any time and having seen others crammed into Minibuses, we definitely recommend and appreciated having our own guide with our own Land Cruiser.
Before we went to Kenya, working out our personal travel plans and picking a safari offer we were a little freaked out by not finding any review on Mattaw which was not 5/5 stars. We deemed it too good to be true, having returned home now, we understand. They deserve every star out of those 5, so “unfortunately” our review will not be any different .

Amazing and unforgettable experience!
The trip was amazing, everything happened smoothly, besides the crazy weather it was very enjoyable. The cars were very good and allowed us to have a great view comfortably. We also got to see most animals during the safari and we could admire the animals and take photos with no rush. It was an unforgettable experience and exceeded my expectations.

A trip full of expresions :)
A great trip with many adventures and attractions, great accommodation, very good food in the camps we chose, very nice people and service. Unforgettable moments in jeeps on a safari in the parks, a committed driver Kevin, who picked us up the day before from the airport and the day after also drove us. An amazing experience, going above and beyond to help complete something off our bucket list!!!!
From the initial contact for pricing, Bud was timely and clear in all his communications. As a family of 4 (Mom, Dad, and boy/girl twins 12yrs old) we had some unique requirements. Bud was understanding and help us through the entire process from start to finish. We were blessed to have two drivers ( Charles and Kevin) both were amazing guides and kept all of us entertained while educating us on Kenya and the animals we were seeing. We got to see the Big 5 !! as well as the "Special 5" completing an item from our family bucket list.
We can not speak kindly enough about Bud, Kevin, and Charles, they made us feel like family and we were proud to help support Bud in his other passion.
An example of them going above and beyond is; when we returned back home we discovered that my daughter left her camera in one of the seat pockets of the Land Cruiser (which was lovely and it was so nice to be able to be in the same vehicle every day).
I sent a quick Whatapp to Bud and Kevin who located the camera and had it shipped to us via DHL within a day!!!
We would unconditionally recommend Bud and Mattaw Safaris to anyone looking for an amazing and impactful Kenyan Safari!!!!

Amazing safari
I can only strongly recommend Mattaw safari :
I did a 3 days safari in Masai Mara end of December and everything was great. Despite my very last minute demand and quite complicated weather conditions (heavy rains not normal for the season), Bud was able to organize a fantastic trip. He was very reactive and responsive. In addition, he provided very good advice to adapt my project to weather conditions, which was absolutely not the case of other safari operators, which, by the way, were far more expensive for the same level of sercice. The land cruiser we used, with Charles, my guide, as its driver, enabled us to go where vans were stucked in the mud. Charles did everything he could for me to have a fantastic time. I saw cheetas (2 times!), lions, many girafes and lots of elephants. Landscape and light were wonderful. Thanks to both of you for the beautiful memories !

Adventurous and very exciting!
Everything was amazing! The Masai Mara drivers were so informative and great to talk to. We love bud as well! Everyone was able to answer our questions and help us have the best experience possible. I would most definitely book with them again!!
