Not luxury but overall a great experience
We booked an 8 day private luxury tour to the Serengeti and Zanzibar. We had a nice guide Stanley and a great time. Saw the big 5 and more and loved all the lodges. The tented ones are very clean and “as luxury as you can get” in the middle of the Serengeti. We had some hot water problems and flushing issues. A lot of the meals are buffets, but they are delicious. There were just some discrepancies we didn’t like on this tour. Communication was great from planning to booking, however, when we got there the guide did not seem to know info on our flights or some other things on the itinerary. I felt like the itinerary wasn’t very specifically detailed, which I should have questioned earlier. Ie-listing our flight times and specific sights in destinations or tours. Also a price breakdown of day. The itinerary did list driving times to places, but not one was correct. They were WAY longer. This wasn’t really based on traffic problems, the roads everywhere are just unpaved and they should be more transparent about driving times. It is hard to have a luxury safari when you are spending 12 hrs in a car every day on bumpy dusty roads and eating hot food for lunch that has become cold over hours and also being out of the fridge that whole time. While tasty.. I was worried a bit about it. The jeep was clean and looked decent, but the ac didn’t work, the armrest broke off one seat during our time and the door was broken on my side. There was no acknowledgement of anything. Thank god we had no further problems on those roads! The first day we chose to hike Mt Kilimanjaro, and it was not stated what entrance we would be using or how long it would take to base camp. The entrance we used was not feasible for a day trip. We also wore sneakers. No one advised us that we needed literal hiking shoes for mud purposes only. This would have been nice to know and communicate! We were slipping everywhere (which is a norm) and it made it very difficult to enjoy. It was also told to us numerous times that the flight to Zanzibar was direct. It was not lol. Also every time we switched places/guides we had to ask the tour operator for names and who was picking us up and when. We shouldn’t have to reach out and do that. No one told us the time of our dolphin tour the second day in Zanzibar, we had no clue which day it was on. They also said 3 hrs long and it was over 5. It was nice and included lunch, but that would have been nice to advise us of all that! Also we booked an 8 day trip, but bc our flight was late night the 8th day they did not give us lunch dinner or anything else. I want to be charged for 7 days then! We complained to the tour operator Omar and he did absolutely nothing but make excuses or not respond. Bc he already had his cash money paid in full a few days prior of course. It’s not much to cover atleast a lunch! When we arrived at the airport the driver tried to charge us again aswell, even tho they stated that was the only thing included that day. Just a lot of discrepancies in communication and certain details that made the trip a little more troublesome and a not so luxurious feel that we were looking for. I’d prob just do more budget accommodations as you are mostly gone on game drives, and bring better shoes for mud and dust. Zanzibar water is nice, but the north might have less tidal/seaweed/sea urchin problems than the east? Just have to be transparent.. even tho we overall had a great experience. I wouldn’t steer away from this company, I would just cover extra bases beforehand. I think a lot of companies are very similar IMO and provide similar services in this poorer part of the world. It is what it is and it’s a once in a lifetime trip!

Posted on Oct 5, 2026Dear our lovely client,
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate the positive comments about Stanley, our guides, the lodges, the food, the wildlife experience, and the overall trip. We are happy to hear that, despite the challenges you mentioned, you still had a great experience, saw the Big Five, and enjoyed your time in Tanzania and Zanzibar.
That said, we would also like to clarify a few points from our side, as some details in the review do not fully reflect the itinerary and arrangements that were confirmed before your trip.
First, regarding the title of the trip, the confirmed booking was “8-Day Great Migration Safari, Culture, Mount Kilimanjaro & Zanzibar.” It was not sold as an “8-day private luxury tour to the Serengeti and Zanzibar.” The itinerary included a combination of mid-range lodges and tented camps, as well as some luxury tented camps. Therefore, while some of the properties provide a luxury-level experience, the entire itinerary was not classified or priced as a fully luxury tour.
Regarding driving times, the times shown in the itinerary were estimated travel times, not guaranteed exact transfer durations. Safari travel in Tanzania can vary considerably depending on road conditions, weather, wildlife stops, traffic, and the condition of unpaved roads. We understand that some journeys took longer than expected, and we appreciate your feedback that these estimates could have been explained more clearly.
Regarding the Zanzibar flight, our booking was made as a direct flight based on the flight information and ticket provided to us. The ticket did not indicate an intermediate stop. If the aircraft made an unexpected stop or change during the journey, this would have been outside our control. Guests can also verify the flight details directly from the tickets that were provided.
Regarding the Mount Kilimanjaro day hike, we sincerely apologize that we did not clearly advise you to bring proper hiking shoes suitable for muddy and slippery conditions. This is something we should have communicated beforehand, and we accept that point. We will make sure this information is made clearer to future guests.
Regarding Day 8, we would also like to clarify that the confirmed itinerary specifically stated that Day 8 included breakfast and the transfer to the airport only. No lunch or dinner was included or charged for that day. For this reason, we were surprised by the complaint that these meals were not provided. We always try to provide exactly what is included in the confirmed itinerary and avoid charging guests for services that are not part of their package.
Regarding the airport transfer, we sincerely apologize for the driver attempting to request payment from you. The transfer had already been paid for by our company, so you should not have been asked to pay again. This was not authorized by us, and we will address the matter internally and take appropriate action to prevent such incidents in the future.
We are also sorry if there were occasions when you had to contact us to confirm driver names, pickup arrangements, or activity times. We understand that these details should be communicated proactively, and this is an area where we can improve our coordination.
We appreciate your comments because they help us identify areas where our communication can be better. At the same time, we believe it is important for future travelers reading the review to have the full context and understand what was actually included, what was estimated, and what was outside our control.
Despite the issues raised, we are genuinely pleased that you enjoyed the wildlife, accommodations, Zanzibar, and the overall experience. Tanzania is an adventure destination, and some aspects of safari travel—particularly long journeys on unpaved roads—can be very different from conventional luxury holidays.
Thank you again for choosing us and for your feedback. We wish you all the best and hope that the wonderful memories from your Tanzania adventure remain the strongest part of your trip.
Kind regards,
Omar

Nice tour guide, but very disappointing car
Our guide Stanley is very nice with all the animal knowledge he has and very informative with animals location. We had a nice time because of him.
However, the jeep is really in a bad situation. First time it was tank being cut off, so we spent 1-2 hrs with mechanics repairing the car.
Second time it was the some parts falling apart and the jeep is not moving at all, so we stopped for a repair. Thankfully there was another jeep going by and the guide and group were willing to take us with them and continue the trip for the day, otherwise we would have lost on precious safari day because the jeep was finally fixed at 9pm or so. We thought all jeeps are in bad condition, but when riding with another jeep, we realized how bad condition our jeep was.
Third time, the jeep broke down on our way to airport. Luckily, the jeep broke down in Arusha, so the company quickly had another car come by and pick us up and arrived airport on time. If it hadn't broke down in Arusha, we would have missed the flight.
We were lucky coz each broke down we were not heavily affected because the timing was right. But it could be more serious consequences with those broke downs.
Really need to consider again about the car condition.

Wonderful
Our guide Godwin from Shengena Adventure made our whole safari experience. He was super experienced with the Serengeti Area and made sure we saw the Big Five. We had the best days of our lives thanks to him and the safari. He is unafraid, funny and accurate and we really had the best time with him. He even sings well and make everyone feel at home. I would highly recommend him to anyone doing the safari with this Company, Asante Sana Godwin.

We saw a lot of wild animals
Since we booked the 2-day trip to Tarangire and Ngorongoro, there has been a good follow-up and information from the organizer. Always quick answers to our questions. We could adapt the trip to suit our wishes and needs. We were picked up at our hotel in a slightly older Safari car, which, however, could do what it was supposed to. Our guide was friendly and very accommodating. In the parks we saw many animals and the guide had a good network to get to the places in the parks where the animals were. The overnight stay between the two parks was at a lodge with spacious rooms and good food. An organizer that I can recommend.
