Silverbird consistently exceeds expectations!
From the moment we were greeted at the airport for the hotel transfer. We knew that we were in good hands with Justin. We spent the seven days of touring with him and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him. He is articulate, knowledgeable on so many different topics, a wonderful guide and driver, and a great conversationalist.
After two nights in Kigali, during which we toured the genocide museum, the Kandy House Museum had lunch together at sundowner’s restaurant and saw various neighborhoods and points of interest.
From there, we headed to the Western province for our chimpanzee trek, a canopy walk in the national forest and ended with a private viewing of the Colobus monkeys.
Jane Goodall had died the day before it was always one of my idols, and I had such deep respect for her work, which made the chimpanzee trek even more meaningful. We had an outstanding guide and excellent porters, and we got treated to an incredible experience of watching them enjoy their breakfast of figs for well over an hour. It made me feel that Jane was looking out for us.
Within headed north along lake Kivu to the northern province where we stayed just outside volcanoes national park for our highly anticipated gorilla trekking experience.
The small boutique hotel, which was an Eco Lodge, where we stayed was our base. The staff were absolutely fantastic, the food was wonderful and we had the luxury of staying in the small family accommodation with two separate rooms and a living room area.
There aren’t enough words to say how incredible the gorilla trekking experience was for us. We were very impressed with how organized the program is, and how experienced and lovely the guides and porters were who traveled with us. We were literally 4 feet from the silverback who was devouring leaves. There were multiple babies in the group and in total approximately 15 Gorillaz. It was an extraordinary sighting and breathtaking to be so close to these magnificent animals.
The second day there we went to see the golden monkeys, which was fun and very animated, but we were in a larger group so it wasn’t as spectacular as the day before. That said the Gorillaz are a tough act to follow.
From there, we transferred by car once again to the eastern province where we spent two nights in Akagera national park. We had originally planned to stay at another Mantis property, but we moved to the bush camps, and sister properties, Ruzizi and Karenge. At first we thought they would be a little more expensive than the mantis lodge, but factoring in that all meals were included and that the lodge itself is a much more intimate and impressive option, we were glad we made the change.
We did the sunset boat cruise out to see hippos and crocodiles and lots and lots of birds. It was a beautiful setting and we were the only boat out on the lake.
We then came back for dinner and the manager at Ruzizi entertained us with guitar and songs while we enjoyed a delicious meal at the beautiful outdoor deck right on the water.
Karenge was another favorite camp. As the full moon rose we enjoyed another delicious meal while looking out across the planes. We had had a fantastic game drive through the park that day with Justin.
The next morning we set off to go back to Kigali to the airport.
I would highly recommend this tour as well as this tour operator and spend enough time in Rwanda to really enjoy the beautiful country and the beautiful people who you will meet.

Aristide agreed to take us to a few places we thought were interesting, and we decided to go with him because he was the only driver who hadn’t tried to overcharge us. From there, he suggested other cool spots based on what we were looking for. He took us to the Cavico craft market, the genocide memorial, a fantastic restaurant called Sundowner with a buffet of local food, and some well-known neighborhoods. He even showed us the city viewpoint and the downtown market so we could experience everyday life in Kigali, which we did not talk about at the beginning without asking any extra. It was a very good price! I honestly couldn’t have asked for more. His mix of professionalism and warmth makes him an exceptional guide who goes above and beyond to make every moment unforgettable. Arafath was a reply nice tour operator. He could tell nice stories about the animals en nature.
We had a great experience. Arafath, our guide, picked us up on time and brought us to the rhinos. Here he could tell a lot about nature and animals. He had arranged a good lunch with the rhinos, with local dishes. After this we went to the waterfalls and then to our hotel. Our guide indicated that if something was not right he would take care of it. Fortunately, this was not necessary and we had a good stay. The next day we have an extensive and fun game drive and a boat trip on the Nile. All in all, we are very happy with Silverbird, and we will definitely use their service again in the future!

Magic !
We did the 7-day "Best of Rwanda-Uganda Primate Safari" tour.
This tour is magnificent!! The drive between sites can be long, but each activity is well worth the time spent on the road or on the difficult trails! Special mention goes to the gorilla tour in Uganda: an hour of wonder with these gentle giants with such expressive eyes!
We had the privilege of going as a couple and thank the agency for maintaining this tour with such a small group!

And a big thank you to our driver-guide Justin, who did everything he could to make this trip informative, enjoyable, and relaxing; with professionalism and seriousness, but always with kindness, a smile, and concern for our well-being. Tour operator was extremely helpful, booking an amazing itinerary, and responding to our questions
The whole trip was amazing. The highlights of our trip were spending time with the gorillas and the ~5 hour mountain hike. We didn’t realize that we would be so close to the gorillas! The hike was incredible, but probably at the high end of intermediate. I would recommend training before taking on Mt Bisoke. We enjoyed a beautiful view of the mountain peak and a large caldera at the top. Would recommend spacing activities out as it does take 3+ hours to go from one destination to the next and taking a lot of snacks with you.

Awesome tour!
SilverBird tour company did a great job organizing our 3-day Nyungwe National Park tour. We enjoyed the tour guide, Justin, and his attention to making sure we were happy with everything planned. Even when we wanted to change up a few things on the day of certain activities, he was very flexible and accommodating. The place we stayed at was simple, but amazing with extremely friendly staff in a beautiful location right on the shores of Lake Kivu. We loved that it was an eco-lodge. The activities planned were great! The vehicle we rode in was equipped with everything we needed for the long drives (WiFi, beverages, pillows, etc). We felt this tour was worth the price. We were well taken care of and appreciated all the details SilverBird does to make sure we were happy!

Perfection - Beyond Expectations
Due to an unexpected issue with our rental car (a different company), we needed the assistance of a driver at the last minute. We found Silverbird in the afternoon, and by morning we were set up with an amazing driver (and guide), Justin. We had the best week and Justin continuously went above and beyond to make our trip memorable and comfortable. Could not recommend more!

Amazing Great Apes Tour!!
I couldn’t recommend Silverbird Tours more- the guides were friendly, informative and knowledgeable. The wildlife, scenery and offerings in Rwanda were amazing- from the spectacular gorillas, to chimpanzees and a plethora of monkeys in stunning tropical forests. The accommodations, itinerary and care organized by Silverbird Tours was a 10/10!!
