Not communicating the facts.
After booking a 7 day Safari, i found out that day 1 of 7 only consists of checking in to your hotel although the itinerary clearly states that your adventure will begin after meeting the team. No team was ever met. Day 2 was no adventure either. After driving about 75 kms, we had breakfast then i was passed off to another tour company altogether. Day 3 and 4 were fine, but when it came to organizing my balloon trip, the driver new nothing about it. I had to text Jambo Masai Tours and connect them with the driver. After that, things did not get better. On the 5th day, my guide was returning to Arusha with all guests. I informed him that my Safari was for 7 days, not 5. He arranged for me to be transferred to another company, but by then, i was completely fed up an cut my Safari short by 2 days. I concidered requesting a refund, but i didnt want anything more to do with Jambo Masai tours.

Posted on Oct 17, 2025Dear Colin,
Warm greetings from Jambo Masai Tours, and thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. We truly value your feedback and are sorry to hear that some parts of your safari did not fully meet your expectations.
We would like to kindly clarify that, as mentioned during your pre-safari briefing, Day 1 of your 7-day itinerary is an arrival day, dedicated to your airport transfer and hotel check-in, with no safari activities scheduled. The adventure officially begins the following morning after meeting the team for your safari orientation.
Regarding the joining (shared) safari arrangement, this was also explained during your briefing. Since this is a shared experience, we collaborate with a few of our trusted partner companies to ensure smooth logistics and guest comfort throughout the journey. This is a common practice among safari operators to optimize group coordination and maintain quality service.
The distance you mentioned reflects the drive from Arusha to Mto Wa Mbu, where you left early in the morning to reach the first point on the itinerary for breakfast before starting the journey toward Serengeti National Park. This stop is included to ensure comfort and a smooth start to the safari.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience with the balloon safari communication. Once we were informed, our team immediately coordinated with both the balloon operator and your driver to ensure the activity went ahead smoothly — and we were happy to hear from you that it turned out to be a wonderful experience.
Regarding your early return to Arusha, our guide informed us and we reached out to confirm with you directly. You mentioned that you had already seen a lot and preferred to conclude your safari early. We respected your decision and arranged your transfer accordingly.
We deeply regret any frustration you experienced and truly appreciate your understanding. Your feedback helps us continue improving our coordination and communication with both guests and partners to deliver even better experiences in the future.
Warm regards,
Michael Tora
