Perfect Bucket List Trip
5/5

This was a bucket list trip with the entire family; it could not have been better. We spent 3 weeks of the most enjoyable travel for us who are widely traveled throughout the world over many years. All arrangements were made by Wild Wings, airport pickups, lodges and associated safaris, transfers between lodges and a terrific guide who at the end of our safari portion enthralled us with Cape Town, the western Cape, both inland and coastal the Garden Route from Cape Town to Knysna. Everyone selected by Clare at Wild Wings was aware and responsive to my need to use crutches thanks to her selecting arrangements that permitted me to enjoy every moment of our time in South Africa. Our guides made special effort to accommodate me and show us sights and places during road journeys of which we were totally unaware! I, and everyone in the family will recommend Wild Wings without reservation.

The best, best, best vacation we've ever shared as a family!
5/5

I spent a full month investigating every possible option to visit Africa for our family of 5, plus two friends joining us. What I eventually concluded was that our best choice in planning a complex holiday involving visits to three countries, including differing safari experiences throughout, was to work with Wild Wings Safaris. What convinced me, aside from the excellent reviews and experience planning complex itineraries, was my connection to Wild Wings' Clare van der Breggen who became our best friend and greatest wealth of insight through the planning process. From the very first contact, Clare made the experience as easy and pleasant as possible. Everything was either 'yes' or 'let's figure it out' - with nothing impossible and everything a suggestion of what could be as we made choices about spending two weeks in Africa. We considered many combinations of itineraries, but Clare kept me true to the vision of our family trip to experience Africa up close and personal. She helped weed out the hype and kept us focused on what we said would make us happiest. She helped us craft an itinerary that progressively allowed us to experience nature up close and personal, and even during one of the busier seasons, found openings in the most incredible accommodations and with the very best guides. Clare's communication, knowledge and support exceeded all of our expectations. Everything went off without a hitch... every transfer to and from, every check-in, every meal, every tour... to the minute - all of it was perfect... simply perfect! I have now shared our Wild Wings Safaris experience with everyone I know, and if you are reading this review, go no further, you found the perfect group to craft your own experience of a lifetime!!!

Unforgettable
5/5

After spending many hours researching which company to use for our first safari in South Africa we decided on Wild Wings. They provided an amazing, flawless, and unforgettable experience!!!
Madi became our travel consultant and after numerous emails and a few phone calls we had a fantastic itinerary. Throughout the planning process she was extremely professional, friendly, and very patient! She arranged all the lodgings, transfers, safaris, tours, and national airfares. Madi made sure that everything was just perfect!
My husband and I started our journey in Cape Town. We stayed in Cape Town Hollow Hotel which has an excellent location and our room had an amazing view of Table Mountain! She also booked tours to Cape Point and Hermanus with African Experience. We then flew to Nelspruit for our three-night safari in Kruger (Skukusa Rest Camp) and our guide was Simon!!! He is just the best! Excellent guide with an extraordinary knowledge of the animals and birds in the park. His passion for nature is contagious. Simon was not only our driver and guide but he was also a wonderful cook…. with a great sense of humor; eating our meals with him was such a pleasure! He offered genuine individual attention and tried to cater to every want and/or need of each person in the group…. We couldn’t ask for more!!!
From Skukusa, Mishak from Gap Tours transferred us to Machaton Private Camp located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. This lodge is incredible! We felt so pampered by Lezel and her fantastic team… from the beautiful rooms, wonderful meals, friendly staff, and magnificent game drives. Their attention to every single detail was superb!!!
We were again picked up by Gap Tours for the very scenic Panorama Route drive tour. Our driver and guide, Mishak was very knowledgeable and passionate about the area and the animals. He even spotted several birds throughout the drive.
Our next destination was Johannesburg and Madi arranged a half day tour to Soweto and Johannesburg with Spurwing Tourism Services. This was a very interesting tour that provided us with a historical history of South Africa.
From there we flew to Kasane Airport and stayed at the Chobe Marina Lodge for two-nights. We had a beautiful room facing the Chobe River and did two spectacular cruises on the river (morning and night) that offered us a distinct perspective of the animal’s interaction with the water. We also did game drives and saw different animals from the cruise.
Final destination: Victoria Falls…. Breathtaking !!! We stayed at the Ilala Lodge which was within walking distance from the falls and you could see the falls’ mist from the hotel! Madi arranged for us via Wild Horizons a beautiful sunset cruise and a microlight flight (from Zambia) over the magnificent falls. This was an incredible experience!
Throughout our journey in South Africa Madi arranged for us multiple transfers and tours that were always punctual, reliable, and guides that were friendly and knowledgeable. We saw an incredible number of animals and birds... a lioness nursing her cubs, a hyena stealing a kill from a pack of wild dogs, a close encounter with a leopard sitting up on a branch with his kill nearby…. Just amazing and incredible sights!
Many thanks to Wild Wings and Madi for exceeding our expectations by providing us with an unforgettable experience!

Excellent safari
5/5

We been on a few trips around the world before but this beats them all. We had a five day/four nights safari with Armand as our private guide and John as our private chief in Kruger park. Everything was arranged perfectly and we did not need to think about anything practical for the entire trip. We started the trip with arriving early at Johannesburg airport. We were there picked up and had a private driver that helped out with picking up the prebooked Nikon 600mm/4 before arriving to Kruger.

Armand then picked us up and we got a first safari before sunset the same day with good shots of Rhinos. John cooked food just of us in the evening. Very nice South African special food. An early start day two with a bush walk in the sunrise. Perhaps not the highlight of the trip but still nice to walk around where lions could be. Two armed guides made them stay away though. After special breakfast with John it was time to head out with Armand on the full day safari. We could see a lot of animals but second day was even better, we got all big five in one day then.

But the big five is not the main thing. When sitting in the open vehicle you get so much of the open scenery and you soon start becoming your own animal scout. Seeing a family of elephants passing the road just in front of you is truly something special. And waiting for them there is all of a sudden an exotic bird sitting on the tree branch just beside the car. When looking at the hippos in a pond, there is a family of baboons next to the car stealing all your interest.

I got more and better pictures taken during the 4/5 days in Kruger than in most other places. If you head for a private reserve instead of booking within Kruger by itself the car can drive close to any animal. Even if that will give you much better closeup pictures, it will also mean more stress for the animals. I do prefer the Kruger way which brings out the need of a good tele-lens but leaves the animals more private.

Could anything been done better? Well, the park ranger tours with bush walk one morning and sunset safari an evening were less interesting, they would fall into the category of nice to have done but no need to repeat. It was truly Armands guided safaris that made the trip, and Johns food for sure.

I already recommended the trip to a number of fiends, not something I always do. And this is one trip I would like to repeat.

Perfect experience!
5/5

I were extremely satisfied with the service provided by Wild Wings. Simon was the perfect guide! He had this sharpened and fascinated look by the beauties of Kruger, always sharing with us information about animals and wildlife. Jock was great too. The meals prepared by him were always very tasty and well presented.

12 Day Cape Town, Kurger, Victoria Falls
5/5

Fantastic trip and fantastic experience with Wild Wings. The staff were very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed to have an amazing trip. It was a great way to see many different things, with more personal flexibility on activities in Cape Town and Victoria Falls. Kruger highlighted the trip with Simon, our extremely knowledgeable guide who took care of everything! I would highly recommend both this trip and Wild Wings.

Superb intro to South Africa
5/5

My adult son and I thoroughly enjoyed a father-son travel experience to South Africa, thanks primarily to Wild Wings Safaris. Given limited time--two weeks--we wanted a small sampling of the best of South Africa, which to us meant visits to Joburg and Cape Town and a five-day safari experience, together with day trips to points of visual and historic interest. We cannot say enough about Wild Wings, which arranged our stay at Naledi Enkoveni Lodge (special kudos to bush guides/brothers Prem and Oupa) and hooked us up with a transport/tour guide service, African Adventures. Each and every connection we made via these services was outstanding (if you go, don't hesitate to ask about daily life and South African politics with your drivers and others you meet as you travel; most all have interesting insights they are willing to share if asked). Most importantly, our travels greatly enhanced our appreciation for South Africa--its amazing people, its diverse culture, its rocky history, its enormous challenges, and its promising future. We would strongly encourage anyone thinking about travel to South Africa to do just that, and to seriously consider Wild Wings for guidance in making the trip. Do your homework, then take the plunge.

a great trip to South Africa
5/5

We really enjoyed our trip to South Africa, and it had a lot to do with Wild Wings Safaris. First, with the great Safari in Kruger Park with Simon. We had a very nice group (lucky us), and Simon is a great guide and fun to be with. We saw a lot and learned a lot. Clare also helped us with bookings for the rest of our trip including Cape Town, the Little Karoo and the Garden Route - and we were happy with her choices. So, we can only recommend Wild Wings Safaris. Enjoy.
