Thoughtfully planned safari with an exceptional guide
5/5

Our safari with Alika Africa was truly the trip of a lifetime. We spent 2 nights in Central Serengeti, 2 nights at the Ngorongoro Crater rim, and 2 nights in Tarangire - each place offering something unique. From the moment we arrived, everything was thoughtfully planned—beautiful accommodations (Nyumbani Camp and Lion’s Paw were our absolute favorites!), comfortable travel, and a seamless itinerary that allowed us to just relax and take it all in.

But what made this experience unforgettable was our guide, Msangi. His 30 years of guiding experience, deep love for Tanzania’s wildlife and landscapes, and warm, genuine personality made every day exciting and fun. This trip was worth every penny and I hope we can go back for another safari adventure with Alika Africa one day. Thank you, Stacy and Msangi, for an incredible trip!

Extremely professional, flexible, attentive, helpful and fun.
5/5

We recently returned from an unforgettable 18-day trip to Tanzania organized by Duma Explorer, and we cannot recommend them highly enough! From start to finish, Duma’s team was professional, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated to making our experience extraordinary.

Duma provided us with an outstanding guide and a well-equipped vehicle for our safari and trekking adventures. Their advice on lodges was spot-on — every place we stayed was carefully chosen and suited our preferences perfectly. The combination of jeep-based safaris through the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Crater, and Tarangire National Park was breathtaking. Each day felt perfectly paced, and we appreciated how smoothly everything was handled behind the scenes.

A real highlight was the three days of trekking, including visits to the Empakai Crater and camping overnight. Duma arranged all of the logistics — from transporting our gear to setting up tents and providing fantastic meals — and even coordinated an excellent Maasai guide who made the experience even more special. We also spent time at Lake Natron, and Duma made sure we were in great hands throughout.

Even after the safari portion ended, Duma helped organize our stay in Zanzibar, ensuring a seamless transition to the beach part of our trip.

Their attention to detail, deep local knowledge, and genuine care made this a trip of a lifetime. If you're considering a safari or trekking adventure in Tanzania, we wholeheartedly recommend Duma Explorer!

Very easy to work with and clearly have significant experience.

Our 6 day safari including Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Serengeti National Parks and stays at 4 different tent camps was an incredible adventure, especially thanks to our guide, Isack. His passion for the region and ability to find wildlife surely led to the diversity of sights and sounds we experienced. He’s extremely knowledgeable and we very much enjoyed his company. All of the lodging exceeded our expectations with practical comfort, King beds, great meals and friendly service. Looking back we wouldn’t change a thing. This was our richest experience in decades of travel. Thanks Alika!

Dream trip of a lifetime in Tanzania
5/5

This was a dream trip for my mother and me. The team at Duma Explorer and Alika Africa put together the perfect itinerary for a recently retired wildlife biologist from the US National Park Service and her 87-year-old mother - quite a feat!

We spent 12 days exploring and experiencing Arusha, Tarangire, Ngorongoro, the Ndutu region, Serengeti, and Zanzibar. We both thoroughly enjoyed the trip. All the places we stayed were fantastic – I have a new appreciation for what a “tent camp” can be! Adding in a night drive in Tarangire, a walk in Ndutu, and snorkeling at Chumbe Island were great additions to the experience. Thanks so much to Stacy for working with us to put the trip together.

I can’t say enough about how fantastic our guide Isack Msuya was – I will always be grateful for his sharing with us his deep knowledge the natural and cultural heritage of Tanzania. Working for over 20 years with resource interpreters and biologists from US Parks, I have a deep appreciation for how great Isack is. Extra thanks for all his help with the birds, and I hope to be back in 2026!

Thank you Msangi for a fantastic safari!
5/5

Our safari in Tanzania was nothing short of extraordinary, and we have our incredible guide, Msangi, to thank for it. From the moment we set out, his deep knowledge of the wildlife, landscapes, and local culture made every moment an adventure.
Msangi’s passion for the wilderness was evident in the way he expertly tracked animals, ensuring we had breathtaking sightings of the Big Five and so much more. His insights into animal behavior and the delicate balance of the ecosystem added a whole new layer of appreciation to our journey.
Beyond his expertise, Msangi was a fantastic host—warm, patient, and always ensuring we were comfortable and engaged. Whether it was sharing fascinating stories around the campfire or navigating the Serengeti with ease, his presence made our safari truly special.
If you’re looking for a guide who combines professionalism, knowledge, and a genuine love for Tanzania’s natural beauty, Msangi is the perfect choice. We can’t recommend him highly enough and will cherish these memories forever!

Trip of a LIFETIME. This was our first time to Africa and Alika Africa made it AMAZING! Stacy answered numerous questions via phone calls and emails and created the most detailed itinerary. My dad (71) mom (61) and myself (29) felt absolutely safe while adventuring on this 10 day safari. Each place we stayed at was beautiful, the hospitality was phenomenal and the food was delicious. Everyone was beyond welcoming and helpful. We had fun learning Swahili and we had the most amazing opportunities capturing photos of so many animals!
Our guide, Sifuni, truly became our friend and we admired his respect for the Serengeti, his knowledge of the wildlife (especially birds) at each location and he kept us safe at all times. We loved every second of this trip!

Amazing adventure
5/5

We had a group of 14 people and Ebenezer and Joe were our guides. They were so great and had a wealth of information to make our Safari special. The knowledge about each animal, bird, plant and the history of each area were so interesting. They were able to spot all the different animals so we could get close views of them. They had such respect not to disturb the animals and we felt very safe. Highly recommend

Alika Africa is a reliable, full-service, top-shelf safari provider!
5/5

This was my third safari with Duma Explorer/Alika Africa. Stacy at Duma Explorer/Alika Africa planned a memory-packed, fantastic experience of a lifetime for my family (6 of us) and friends (8 more)!

Stacy arranged all of our pre- post- and on-tour accommodations, and they were second to none! Every staff provided service that was over-the-top! They made us feel like family everywhere we stayed. Tumbili Lodge and Rivertrees Lodge were fabulous pre- and post-tour places to stay – gorgeous suites, delicious meals and beautiful grounds! While on safari, the Tarangire Safari Lodge provided spectacular views, Sound of Silence Camp had incredible, cozy tents that felt like we were living on a Hollywood set, and Lion’s Paw Lodge provided glamping at its best! All had in-tent hot showers, flushing toilets, sinks and vanities, comfortable beds and attentive staff members. We snuggled into our professionally turned-down beds, after 5-star meals, and listened to the animals sing us to sleep every night.

And then, of course, there was the actual safari! Most of the people with us were experiencing safari for the first time. They were all hoping to see A zebra, A giraffe, AN elephant, and A lion. Their first-timer wow-moments, gasps, awe-inspired expressions, and daily most-memorable moments were so fun to experience with them! Our guides, Joseph and Ebenezer were so knowledgeable and patient with all of our black-rock rhino, dirt-mound lion, lumpy-tree leopard, wart-hog cheetah sightings:) I’m sure we wore them out with our questions, but they never quit answering them or educating us with their knowledge from their years in the bush.

What an adventure we had - we will be talking about it for the rest of our lives. While I thought this might be my third and final trip to Tanzania, I find myself already yearning for my return to the most amazing place on Earth. And, of course, I will be contacting Stacy at Duma Explorer/Alika Africa to help me plan my next Tanzanian expedition!

Fantastic experience!
5/5

My wife and I did a private tour of Tanzania (7 nights) and Uganda (4 nights). What an incredible experience! Stacy and her team planned a fantastic trip to see the great migration in Tanzania combined with gorilla and chimp tracking in Uganda. Our guide in Tanzania, Msangi, was the best. He was so thoughtful and knowledgeable that he made the trip for us. We were so lucky to have the migration pass right next to our camp in the Serengeti. And having a male lion roaring right outside your tent really gives you a perspective on life. Spending an hour with a chimp company one day and a gorilla family another was amazing. The African massage…bumpy roads…make you earn the experience, but it’s worth it.

An excellent experience visitng the National Parks of Tanzania
5/5

We had been to Tanzania once before with Duma Explorer. This time our 10 day trip included Tarangiri, Ndutu, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara and was expertly planned by Stacy Readal. We intentionally chose the wet season (although it was particularly wet this year) in order to better see the birdlife. Birdlife is a particular interest of ours but is also an enjoyable way to fill in the spaces between mammal sightings.
Our guide, Isack Msuya, has a gift for finding animals and birds that are not readily visible to the normal human being. And he always gave time to thoroughly appreciate what we were seeing. He was also very knowledgeable about animal behaviour. Our favoured routes were often blocked by the heavy rainfall but Isack always found a safe way round. We felt very safe throughout. Isack played a huge part in making our trip a success.
Particular highlights were our two walking safaris at Ndutu and the Rift valley escarpment. We also observed lions mating and a large elephant troupe on a mission to reach the river. We were lucky to see the beginnings of wildebeest and zebra migration at Ndutu. And we were fascinated by the intricate building process of the weaver bird nests.
Our accommodation was a mixture of safari lodges and tented camps with the latter having the frisson of excitement of the unexpected animal passing by. The staff were unfailingly friendly and courteous and many showed impressive commitment to nature conservation.
