Dar Es Salaam to Mikumi national Park

Your guide will pick you up from your city accommodation between 4–7 AM to begin your journey to Mikumi National Park, a scenic drive of 6–8 hours depending on your location and departure time. Mikumi, part of the larger Selous ecosystem, is the fourth-largest national park in Tanzania and known for its open horizons and rich wildlife. It’s home to elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeests, buffaloes, hippos, and a wide variety of bird species.

Upon arrival, enjoy a quick lunch before heading out on your first game drive. Explore Mikumi's Mkata Floodplain, famous for predator sightings and large herds of grazers. After your afternoon safari, you'll head to your lodge, arriving around 5 PM. There, you can unwind, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner, and relax in the peaceful atmosphere of the African bush. Get a good night's rest as you prepare for another day of adventure in this stunning natural reserve.

Half game tour in Mikumi and back to Dar es Salaam

Rise and shine! Another exciting half day of wildlife watching awaits you in Mikumi National Park. After enjoying a hearty breakfast at the lodge, you’ll set out between 6–8 AM for your morning game drive. This is a great time to spot predators returning from their night hunts and catch herbivores grazing in the early light.

Mikumi’s open savannah landscapes provide excellent visibility, increasing your chances of seeing lions, elephants, giraffes, and possibly the elusive leopard. The Mkata Floodplain is especially rich with wildlife activity during this time.

Around 12 PM, you’ll exit the park and begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam. En route, enjoy a relaxing lunch stop, or opt for a packed lunch to enjoy on the drive.

The return trip offers a final glimpse of the Tanzanian countryside. You’ll arrive at your accommodation in Dar es Salaam around 8 PM, filled with unforgettable memories of your Mikumi adventure.
