Kigoma to Gombe National Park
Upon arrival at Kigoma Airport, you’ll be greeted by your driver-guide and taken to the lakeshore for a scenic boat ride across the crystal waters of Lake Tanganyika.
The journey itself is mesmerizing, with fishing canoes and rolling hills along the horizon. On reaching Gombe Stream National Park, check in at your lakeside camp and enjoy a quick lunch before heading into the forest for your first chimpanzee trek.
With the help of expert trackers, you’ll follow trails that lead to habituated chimpanzee groups studied for decades. Watching them interact up close, grooming, playing, and vocalizing is a moving and unforgettable experience. Along the way, you may spot other primates such as red colobus monkeys and playful baboons.
As the day winds down, return to camp for dinner, and fall asleep to the sounds of nature echoing from the forest and the gentle waves of the lake.

The encounter is profoundly human-like and one of the most intimate wildlife experiences on Earth. After spending your permitted time with the chimps, enjoy a picnic lunch in the forest before continuing your exploration.
The park is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife, from bush pigs to colorful butterflies and more than 200 bird species. In the afternoon, take an optional hike to Kakombe Waterfall, a serene cascade hidden within the forest, perfect for photography.
