Your safari begins with a 6:00 AM pickup from Nairobi by Marula Horizon Safaris. Travel north through the scenic Great Rift Valley, enjoying breathtaking views of rolling hills and Mount Kenya along the way.

Arrive in Samburu by early afternoon and check in at Samburu Sopa Lodge, a comfortable lodge overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River. After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive in Samburu National Reserve, spotting elephants, lions, and other wildlife unique to northern Kenya.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay, surrounded by the lodge’s serene riverine setting.

Game Viewing Experience

Start the day early with a morning game drive, when wildlife is at its most active. Watch for cheetahs stalking prey, leopards resting in trees, and large herds of elephants along the Ewaso Nyiro River.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and some leisure time. In the late morning or early afternoon, enjoy an optional visit to a Samburu village for a cultural experience, learning about traditional life, customs, and local crafts.

After lunch, head out for another afternoon game drive, focusing on spotting the Samburu Special Five — reticulated giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, Somali ostriches, gerenuks, and Beisa oryx — while photographing the stunning savannah landscapes.

End the day with a sundowner(optional) at the lodge, followed by dinner and overnight stay.

Depart mid-morning and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon. Drop-off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, completing your unforgettable Samburu safari.
