3-Day Lalibela Rock Hewen Church Tour

Lalibela

Lalibela (The Eighth Wonder of the World) You will be taken to Lalibela. Once you arrive, you will be greeted and then transported to your hotel, which is about a thirty-minute drive away. Renowned for its underground rock-hewn churches, Lalibela is often referred to as the "Eighth Wonder of the World. " In the afternoon, you will begin your tour at 2:00 PM, lasting until 5:00 PM for a total of approximately three hours. The churches you will visit include Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Mariam, Bete Meskal, Bete Denaghel, Bete Golgotha, Bete Mikael, and Bete Giorgis. You will spend the night at Sora Lodge or Tabor Lalibela, or at another well-rated hotel in Lalibela.

Excursion to Asheten Monastery

In the morning, you will embark on a journey to Asheten Monastery, which sits atop the mountain ridge at the peak of Mount Asheten. This trip can be undertaken either on foot or through hiking and will take approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, or you can opt for a 50-minute drive that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area as you depart from the city of Lalibela. After exploring the monastery and taking in the magnificent sights, you will descend to enjoy lunch.

Lunch will be held at a recommended restaurant in Lalibela, specifically Kana Restaurant. The afternoon activities will commence around 2:30 PM following lunch. You will continue your exploration by visiting the remaining churches: Bete Gabriel, Bete Marqorios, Bete Emmanuel, and Bete Aba Libanos, concluding your visits by 5:00 PM. You will spend the night at either Tabor Hotel Lalibela or Sora Lodge Lalibela.
