Day 1

Arusha to Lake Manyara

Arusha to Lake Manyara

Your adventure begins with a morning departure from Arusha, where you'll join your guide and fellow travelers for a scenic 2–3 hour drive to Lake Manyara National Park. This small but biodiverse park is known for its lush groundwater forests, open grasslands, and the alkaline lake that attracts thousands of flamingos and other bird species.

Enjoy a game drive through the park, spotting wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, hippos, baboons, and—if you're lucky—tree-climbing lions resting on the branches. A picnic lunch will be served at a designated site within the park, often with views of the lake.

In the late afternoon, exit the park and head to your lodge or campsite near Karatu, located on the way to Ngorongoro. Relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for an exciting day ahead.

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

After an early breakfast, drive to the nearby Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend 600 meters into the famous Ngorongoro Crater—a natural wildlife haven and one of Africa’s best places to see the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard).

Spend the morning on a game drive across the crater floor, exploring grasslands, acacia forests, and swamps teeming with wildlife. Look out for lions hunting, hippos wallowing in the pools, and endangered black rhinos grazing in the distance. A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic spot inside the crater.

In the early afternoon, begin your ascent from the crater and drive back to Arusha, arriving by late afternoon or early evening.
