After an early breakfast, your safari guide will meet you at the hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, brief you on the 10-day itinerary, and depart north toward Murchison Falls National Park. The drive takes you through Luwero District — Uganda's banana and pineapple heartland — before reaching the first highlight of the trip.
Your first stop is Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can encounter wild white rhinos on foot. After a safety briefing from your armed UWA ranger, you venture into the bush on a tracking walk of approximately 1–3 hours. Ziwa's rhino population has grown from just six individuals to over thirty — a remarkable conservation success story that your visit directly supports.
After lunch, continue to Murchison Falls National Park and visit the spectacular Top of the Falls, where the Nile squeezes through a 7-metre gorge before plunging 43 metres. End the day with dinner and an overnight stay and relaxation at Heritage Safari Lodge.

Day 2

Rise early for the morning game drive in the northern sector of the park — the best area for large predators and the park's iconic Rothschild giraffes. The savannah comes alive at dawn: lion prides cross the open plains, Nubian giraffes feed from the tops of acacia trees, elephant herds move toward the river, and Uganda kob graze in their thousands across the grassland. Other species to look out for include Cape buffalo, spotted hyena, oribi, Bohor's reedbuck, and common warthog. The park records over 450 bird species.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then board the launch for the Nile River boat cruise from Paraa upstream to the base of Murchison Falls. Hippo schools surface alongside the boat, enormous Nile crocodiles bask on sandy beaches just metres away, and the thunder of the falls grows louder as you approach until the spray soaks the air around you. African fish eagles call from the riverbank trees. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart Murchison Falls and drive south toward Kibale National Park in western Uganda — approximately five hours. The drive passes through Fort Portal, Uganda's mountain town gateway, with views of tea plantations and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Stop in Fort Portal for lunch before continuing to the park.

Day 4

After breakfast, head to Kibale National Park for a chimpanzee trekking adventure. Following a briefing at Kanyanchu Visitor Centre, enter the rainforest with a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger to track one of the park's habituated chimpanzee communities. The trek typically lasts 2–4 hours, and once the chimpanzees are located, you'll spend a memorable hour observing their behavior up close in their natural habitat.
Return to the lodge for lunch before visiting Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. This community-managed reserve is home to several primate species, including red-tailed monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, black-and-white colobus, and olive baboons, as well as over 200 bird species. The walk also highlights local conservation initiatives before you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After a leisurely breakfast, depart Kibale and drive south toward Queen Elizabeth National Park. The route passes through scenic crater lake country — Lakes Nyinambuga, Kasenda, and Kifurukwa shimmer in the hollows of ancient volcanic vents. As you approach Kasese, the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains — the legendary Mountains of the Moon — come into view on the western horizon.
Arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park, check in to Enshama Game Lodge, and have lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Lake Katwe — a volcanic salt lake within the crater lakes area and one of Uganda's most distinctive natural and cultural sites. The lake has been mined by local communities for centuries, and you can watch the traditional salt extraction process still carried out by hand in the shallow, pink-tinged water. Flamingos, pied avocets, and other waterbirds wade through the mineral-rich shallows alongside the workers. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6

Rise early for a sunrise game drive through the Kasenyi plains — the park's prime lion and Uganda kob territory. Lion prides hunt across the open grassland in the morning light. Look for leopards resting in acacia trees, hyenas returning from night hunts, and the park's famous elephant herds.
Return to the lodge for lunch, then embark on the Kazinga Channel boat cruise — a two-hour journey along the 40-kilometre channel connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel hosts one of Africa's highest concentrations of hippos — pods of 50 or more are common, basking at close range. Enormous Nile crocodiles occupy the sandy beaches. Elephant and buffalo wade to the water's edge. African fish eagles, goliath herons, pink-backed pelicans, and African skimmers provide the aerial display. In the evening, you may opt for a sundowner at one of the crater lakes before returning to the lodge.

This morning you head to Ishasha — the remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, lying against the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The landscape here is lower, flatter, and more thickly wooded than the north, with wide open fig tree plains that feel genuinely wild. Ishasha is world-famous for its tree-climbing lions: prides here have developed the extraordinary habit of climbing into the horizontal branches of ancient wild fig trees and spending the day surveying the plains from above. Spotting a pride sprawled overhead is one of the most unusual and memorable wildlife sightings in Africa. Ishasha is also excellent for large elephant herds, topi, and Uganda kob.
After lunch, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half the world's remaining mountain gorilla population.

Today is the highlight of your safari. After breakfast, head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters for a briefing before setting off with Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers to track a habituated mountain gorilla family. The trek through the dense rainforest can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 8 hours, depending on the gorillas' location.
Once you find the gorillas, you'll spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat—watching silverbacks, mothers, and playful juveniles at close range in one of the world's most extraordinary wildlife encounters. After the trek, receive your gorilla trekking certificate before returning to the lodge for lunch.
Later, transfer to the tranquil shores of Lake Bunyonyi, a stunning lake surrounded by terraced hills and dotted with 29 scenic islands, where you'll spend the evening relaxing.

After breakfast, enjoy a morning boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi — a tranquil journey across the calm water between the lake's 29 islands, including the historically significant Punishment Island (Bwama Island). The lake is known as the Place of Many Little Birds — kingfishers, herons, and dozens of wetland species can be spotted from the boat. The surrounding terraced hillsides and the cool highland air of the Kigezi region — often called the Switzerland of Africa — make this one of the most peaceful mornings of the entire safari.
After lunch, depart Lake Bunyonyi and drive northeast toward Lake Mburo National Park, passing through Kabale and Mbarara as the landscape changes from highland terraces to rolling savannah. Arrive at Hyena Hill Lodge in time for evening relaxation and dinner.

Your final safari morning begins with a game drive through Lake Mburo National Park — Uganda's smallest national park and the only one in the country where you can see both zebras and giraffes. The park's mosaic of savannah, wetland, and acacia woodland supports impala, topi, eland, warthog, and large herds of buffalo, while the lakeshore draws hippos and crocodiles at close range. Lake Mburo records over 315 bird species, with outstanding acacia-associated birdlife. Your guide's knowledge turns the drive into a master class in identification.
After lunch, begin the final drive northeast to Kampala or Entebbe — approximately four to five hours — arriving in the late afternoon or evening. Your guide will drop you at your hotel or at Entebbe International Airport, bringing to a close one of the most wildlife-rich 10-day safaris available anywhere in Africa.
