Day 1

Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park

After being welcomed to Arusha, in the morning you will begin your safari to Arusha National Park. The entrance gate of Arusha National Park leads into the forest of inhabited blue monkeys and colourful turacos and trogons – the only place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkey are easily seen. In the midst of the forest stands the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater, whose steep rocky cliffs enclose a wide marshy floor dotted with herds of buffalo and warthog. While in Arusha National Park you will be able to enjoy the view of Mount Meru by walking close to it for about 2 to 3 hours with armed ranger who will be accompanying you throughout. Although elephants are uncommon in Arusha National Park, and lions are absent altogether, leopards, spotted hyenas, giraffe, buffalo and many other animals may be seen. In the evening you will be transferred back to Arusha in your lodge for dinner and overnight at Venus Premier Hotel.

You'll also encounter migratory wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, impalas, gazelles, hartebeests, and elands. Tarangire offers the greatest concentration of wildlife outside the Serengeti ecosystem, making it a prime hunting ground for predators. It's one of the few places in Tanzania where you can regularly spot dry-country antelope, such as the stately fringe-eared oryx and the unique long-necked gerenuk.
