Depending on your lodge and permit sector, this might involve a domestic flight to a nearby airstrip (e.g. Kisoro or Kihihi) plus a drive, or a full‐day scenic road journey. Evening is reserved for rest; lodge check‑in, gear briefing, lodge dinner, and preparing for gorilla trek early next morning.

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, you depart to the national park headquarters for a ranger‑led briefing. Then the trek begins through dense forest undergrowth, mist, vines, and rainforest flora in search of the mountain gorilla family assigned to you. The trek duration can vary widely (often 2 to 6 hours) depending on where the gorillas are located. Once found, you spend about one precious hour observing them, watching silverbacks, mothers, infants, listening to their sounds, seeing their behavior up close. After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch, followed by rest. In the afternoon you may choose a lighter activity: a village visit, cultural interaction with local people (including the Batwa if available), or just relaxation in the lodge setting.
