Day 2

Journey to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, your will check out of your accommodation and drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. On arrival, you will enjoy a guided rhino tracking experience on foot, coming within safe distance of these powerful animals in open savannah bush. After the trek, you will continue north to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest protected area. Cross the Nile by ferry and check into your luxury riverside lodge overlooking hippo-filled waters. In the late afternoon, head out on your first game drive or sunset boat cruise spotting elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and possibly lions along the riverbanks. Return for dinner with views over the wild landscape.

This day begins with an early morning game drive across the northern savannah plains, where lions, giraffes, hartebeests, and leopards often appear. You will return to the lodge after the game drive for a relaxed lunch, then in the afternoon enjoy a boat cruise upstream on the Nile toward the base of the dramatic Murchison Falls. Spot crocodiles, hippos, and colorful birds along the way. For the adventurous, hike up to the top of the falls for a thrilling close-up of the thunderous cascade.

After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive south to Kibale Forest National Park. The landscape transitions from grassland to tea plantations and forested hills. After breakfast at your lodge, you will head to Bwindi National Park headquarters for a briefing. Afterwards, you’ll venture into the dense forest in small groups, led by trackers and rangers. The trek can take 2 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family, but once found, you’ll spend a full hour observing them. This is a humbling and emotional encounter. Later return to your lodge to freshen up. In the afternoon hours, you may visit a local Batwa community or take a nature walk to reflect and relax.

Depending on your departure time, you may have a chance to visit the craft markets, botanical gardens, or relax by Lake Victoria. You’ll then be dropped at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight, ending your journey with unforgettable memories of Uganda’s wild heart.
