Day 1

From Arusha, proceed to the Manyara Escarpment for a simple hike, enjoying panoramic views of Lake Manyara and the Great Rift Valley. The trek passes through lush greenery, waterfalls, and local homesteads. After the hike, continue to the scenic village of Mto wa Mbu at the base of the escarpment for a guided cultural tour visit local farms, banana plantations, traditional breweries, and artisan markets. Arrive at Sonayi Campsite for dinner and overnight, enjoying its beautiful garden and refreshing swimming pool, surrounded by nature and the sounds of the wilderness.

After breakfast, drive to the world-renowned Ngorongoro Conservation Area, often called Africa’s “Eighth Wonder.” Descend 600 meters into the crater floor for a full-day game drive. Witness a dense concentration of wildlife including lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, and the rare black rhino. The crater’s lush grasslands, acacia forest, and soda lake attract flamingos and other bird species. Enjoy a picnic lunch near the hippo pool and continue exploring the breathtaking landscapes. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater rim and transfer to a budget lodge or campsite on the rim for dinner and overnight stay with sweeping crater views.

Lake Manyara National Park

After an early breakfast, head to Lake Manyara National Park, a hidden gem famous for its tree-climbing lions and large flocks of flamingos. Enjoy a game drive through diverse habitats, from groundwater forests and acacia woodlands to open grasslands and the lake’s shimmering edge.
