After a final morning game drive in Serengeti, perhaps spotting an elusive animal with the help of your eagle-eyed driver-guide, we head southeast toward Ngorongoro—about 145km, taking around 3.5 hours.

Along the way, you’ll once again be struck by the vastness of the Serengeti’s endless plains, especially as we pass iconic landmarks like Simba Kopjes, known from The Lion King. At Naabi Hill Gate, near the Serengeti–Ngorongoro boundary, you can explore the visitor center, enjoy sweeping views over the plains, or spot colorful agama lizards sunning themselves on the rocks.

Today’s highlight comes later—your first breathtaking sight of the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ngorongoro Crater

We depart camp early, around 6am, heading to the rim before descending into the vast Ngorongoro Crater. Our day begins in the Lerai Forest, a lush, almost tropical setting—ideal for spotting elephants. Nearby swamplands are known as the “elephant graveyard,” where aging bulls come to feed on soft grasses.

The crater hosts around 120 lions, 15,000 wildebeest, 9,000 zebra, 400 hyenas, and about 50 rare black rhinos. Many animals are permanent residents, supported by year-round water sources, while seasonal migrations add to the spectacle. You'll also spot buffalo, Thomson’s gazelles, eland, and hippos wallowing in pools and wetlands.

Lake Magadi on the crater floor often shimmers pink with flamingos, while vibrant highland birds color the skies. This is a truly unique ecosystem—wildlife-rich, scenic, and full of life—making today’s safari an unforgettable highlight of your journey.
