Day 3
Game drives at Ngorongoro crater
Game drives at Ngorongoro crater
Your day typically begins early, with a descent from the crater rim down the steep walls to the crater floor. The landscape is a mix of grassland, swamps, forests, and a soda lake, all supporting diverse habitats for animals.
During the drive, you may spot the Big Five — especially lions, elephants, and the rare and endangered black rhino, which is hard to find elsewhere. Large herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, and gazelles are common, as well as hippos wallowing in pools and flamingos along Lake Magadi. The resident predators, including hyenas, cheetahs, and sometimes leopards, make for exciting sightings. Because the crater is a closed ecosystem, wildlife is abundant and easier to find compared to other parks. You will later return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
