Serengeti Ndutu – Great Migration (Calving Season)

Serengeti Ndutu – Great Migration (Calving Season)

After breakfast, your safari guide will drive to the Southern Serengeti’s Ndutu region, the heart of the Great Migration during calving season. Witness thousands of wildebeest giving birth on the open plains, attracting predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. This is one of the most dramatic wildlife events in Africa, as over 8,000 calves are born daily during peak season (Jan–Mar), and predators are highly active in response. Guests may also see large numbers of zebras, gazelles, jackals, and hyenas, all part of this rich ecosystem. The Ndutu Plains offer excellent opportunities for predator-prey interaction, rare hunting scenes, and iconic wildlife photography, thanks to the open visibility and short, nutrient-rich grasses that draw the herds. Spend the day exploring this extraordinary spectacle of life and survival. Enjoy your packed lunch boxes at the picnic site and later on before sun downer drive back to your Accommodation for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.

Serengeti Ndutu Calving Season

On this second day of your safari, enjoy another morning game drive in the Ndutu Plains to catch more incredible migration scenes. The early morning offers the best chances to witness predator activity, including lions stalking newborn calves, cheetahs in action, and scavengers like vultures and hyenas following behind. After a picnic lunch, you will keep on searching for another movement of wildebeest migration in the plains of Ndutu Serengeti. Calving season also brings increased bird activity, and guests may spot species like Kori bustards, secretary birds, and migratory raptors. Your guide will also help you understand the wildebeest's instinct-driven patterns and the delicate circle of life playing out in real time. During the evening, you will drive back slowly to your camp where you will relax and enjoy a hearty dinner.
