This first day is primarily for recovery from your flight and preparing for the journey ahead.

Day 2

After breakfast, you’ll begin your scenic journey northwards to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest national park. Along the way, you’ll stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can see wild rhinos, and enjoy a guided rhino tracking walk on foot. Afterward, continue your drive through the beautiful countryside, arriving at your lodge in the park by late afternoon. Settle into your lodge and enjoy the sunset over the Nile River or savanna.

After breakfast, you will begin the day with a thrilling early morning game drive across the northern savanna plains of the park, where you can expect to encounter elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, hyenas, and a variety of antelope species. In the afternoon, take a spectacular boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of the thunderous Murchison Falls, where the Nile forces itself through a narrow 7-meter gorge. You'll see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds up close, and there’s an option to hike up to the top of the falls afterward if you’re feeling energetic.

Day 4

After breakfast, you will depart Murchison Falls and travel southwest toward the Kibale Forest region, home to some of Africa’s most diverse tropical forests. It’s a long journey, but the changing landscapes—from savannas to tea plantations and lush hills—make it a scenic one. You’ll stop for lunch in Fort Portal, a charming town nestled at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, then continue on to your lodge near Kibale National Park, where you’ll check in and rest for the night.

Kibale is home to 13 primate species, so expect to also see colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and mangabeys. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided nature walk through Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area rich in birds, monkeys, and swamp vegetation. Return to your lodge for a relaxed evening.

After breakfast, journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular savanna park. The drive takes you past crater lakes, banana plantations, and the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival, check in at your midrange lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which links Lakes Edward and George. This channel is famous for having one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa, along with large numbers of buffaloes, elephants, and birdlife along the shores.

This day starts with a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park, a prime area for spotting lions, elephants, and Uganda kobs. Later, drive further south to the Ishasha sector of the park, known for its rare population of tree-climbing lions, which are often seen lounging in fig trees during the day. Spend the night in a midrange lodge or tented camp in Ishasha, a quieter and less-visited area that offers a unique and serene wildlife experience.

Arrive at your lodge near Bwindi in time for lunch and relax for the rest of the day, preparing for the exciting gorilla trek tomorrow.

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting off on foot with your guides and rangers into the forest. The trek can take anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once found, you’ll spend a magical hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat—a humbling and unforgettable wildlife encounter. Afterward, return to your lodge and unwind. Optional activities in the afternoon include visiting a local Batwa (pygmy) community or taking a short forest walk.

Begin the day with an early morning game drive or nature walk in Lake Mburo, possibly spotting zebras, topis, warthogs, buffalo, and the rare eland. Later in the day, drive to Jinja, Uganda’s adventure capital, located at the source of the River Nile. This drive takes you back through the central part of the country, with stops for lunch and photography. Arrive in Jinja and check in to a lodge overlooking the river.

You will spend time doing a variety of optional activities depending on your choice. You can choose from a variety of optional activities including white-water rafting on the Nile (grade 5 rapids), bungee jumping, kayaking, horseback riding, or simply taking a boat cruise to the Source of the Nile. It’s a fun and energetic way to contrast the safari days. Alternatively, spend your day relaxing by the river and visiting local craft markets or historical sites.

You will begin your journey back toward Entebbe, stopping along the way at Mabira Forest for photos and souvenirs. On arrival in Entebbe, you will have a short break and embark on a visit to Mabamba Swamp for a chance to spot the elusive shoebill stork. Arrive back in Entebbe in the evening and settle into your lodge near the airport in preparation for your departure.
