Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Arusha to Londorossi Gate, where you’ll complete registration and meet your mountain crew. After a picnic lunch, begin trekking through lush rainforests alive with bird calls and the chatter of monkeys. The trail is a gentle ascent, allowing you to adjust to the altitude while enjoying the rich greenery and occasional views of Mount Meru. As the day ends, arrive at Mti Mkubwa (“Big Tree”) Camp for dinner and overnight. The sounds of the forest and the cool mountain air mark your first night on Kilimanjaro.

Day 2

After breakfast, the trail leads you out of the rainforest into the moorland zone. The change in scenery is remarkable lush vegetation gives way to heather and volcanic rocks covered with lichens. You’ll climb steadily up onto the Shira Plateau, one of the world’s highest plateaus, where vast views of the plains below unfold. Lunch is served along the way before continuing to Shira 2 Camp. As you rest, admire the magnificent views of Kibo Peak, glowing golden in the sunset, and prepare for cooler overnight temperatures.

Day 3

Today’s trek takes you deeper into the alpine desert zone. The hike to Moir Camp is a gradual ascent, ideal for acclimatization. The trail crosses volcanic ridges and ancient lava flows, offering expansive views across the Shira Plateau and toward the Lent Hills. Along the route, your guide may point out interesting rock formations and rare high-altitude plants such as giant lobelias. Upon arrival at Moir Camp, you’ll have the option to take an acclimatization hike in the late afternoon to higher elevation points before returning for dinner and rest under a dazzling night sky.

A challenging but rewarding day awaits as you climb toward Lava Tower (4630m), an impressive volcanic formation. This stretch offers valuable acclimatization as you “climb high and sleep low.” After lunch at Lava Tower, descend into the lush Barranco Valley filled with giant groundsels and senecio plants. The descent brings a noticeable temperature change and increased oxygen levels, making for a pleasant evening. Barranco Camp is set in a dramatic valley below the towering Barranco Wall a stunning location that feels straight out of a movie.

Day 5

After breakfast, tackle the famous Barranco Wall a steep but non-technical climb offering thrilling views and a great sense of achievement. Once at the top, you’re rewarded with sweeping vistas of the Karanga Valley below and the ice-capped peaks above. The path then winds gently up and down through glacial valleys before arriving at Karanga Camp. This short day helps with acclimatization, and the afternoon is free to rest, take short hikes, and prepare your body for the final push toward the summit. Enjoy the tranquility of the camp as the stars light up the African night.

Day 6

Today’s journey continues upward toward Barafu Camp, your base before the summit attempt. The landscape is barren, rugged, and otherworldly, with little vegetation but vast views stretching across the clouds. Upon arrival, you’ll rest, have an early dinner, and receive a detailed briefing for the final ascent. Prepare your gear, layer up for the cold, and try to get a few hours of sleep you’ll be walking around midnight to begin your climb to the top of Africa.

Day 7

Summit day! Around midnight, begin the challenging climb under a canopy of stars. The ascent is slow and steady, with the goal of reaching Stella Point (5739m) by sunrise. The sight of the sun rising over the African plains is unforgettable. From Stella Point, continue a short distance along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak the highest point in Africa. Take time for photos and celebration before descending back to Barafu for brunch and rest. Later, continue down to Mweka Camp, where the thicker air and warm atmosphere offer well-earned comfort after your summit triumph.

After a relaxed breakfast, descend through the lush montane forest filled with bird songs and the occasional sight of colobus monkeys. The trail can be slippery, so watch your step. Upon arrival at Mweka Gate, you’ll receive your summit certificates a proud reminder of your achievement. Your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Arusha for a warm shower, a celebratory meal, and memories that will last a lifetime. Congratulations you’ve conquered Mount Kilimanjaro! Later drive to Arusha/Airport.
