Later, you'll meet your guide for a detailed trek briefing covering your selected route, daily expectations, safety measures, altitude acclimatization techniques, and park regulations. This is also the time for a final gear check should you require any last minute items, we’ll help with rentals or purchases. Enjoy a peaceful evening, a nourishing meal, and get plenty of rest your adventure begins tomorrow.

Day 2
Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

Highlights: Rainforest trek, colobus monkeys, birds
After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate and register with the park. A short drive brings you to the Lemosho trailhead, where your adventure begins. Walk through lush rainforest with tall moss-covered trees, colorful birds, and playful colobus monkeys. The shaded, peaceful trail is perfect for an easy start. By evening, arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (“Big Tree Camp”). Enjoy a warm dinner and rest, preparing for the exciting climb ahead.

After breakfast, leave the rainforest and climb into the heather and moorland zone. Trees give way to open plains with shrubs and giant heather. The air is cooler and the sun shines brightly. Cross the stunning Shira Plateau, an ancient volcanic caldera with amazing views of Kilimanjaro’s peaks. Pass Shira 1 Camp and continue to Shira 2 Camp for the night. Relax with a warm drink, watch the sunset, and let your body adjust to the higher altitude while enjoying the breathtaking scenery.

Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower Descend to Barranco Camp

Today is an important day to help your body adjust to the altitude. Hike into the alpine desert, a rocky, dry area with few plants. Climb up to Lava Tower, a dramatic 4,600-meter rock formation, and rest while enjoying lunch and the amazing views. Then descend to Barranco Camp using the “climb high, sleep low” method to adapt to the altitude. Along the way, see giant senecio plants and arrive at Barranco Camp, one of Kilimanjaro’s most beautiful camps below the Barranco Wall.

Day 5

Begin the day with an exciting climb up the Barranco Wall. The climb is challenging but non-technical, and your guide will help you along the way. At the top, enjoy amazing views of glaciers and valleys. Continue along ridges and small valleys to reach Karanga Camp. Today’s shorter hike helps with acclimatization, giving you time to rest, drink water, and enjoy the stunning surroundings.

Day 6
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Highlights: Alpine desert, summit preparation
Leave Karanga Camp and enter the alpine desert zone, with rocky ground, strong winds, and almost no plants. The trail to Barafu Camp, the last base before the summit, is steep but manageable. Arrive in the early afternoon to rest, drink plenty of water, and prepare for the final climb. Your guides will review your gear and give a briefing for the midnight ascent. After an early dinner, rest well—tonight you begin your climb to Uhuru Peak.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak then down to Millennium Camp

Route: Barafu Camp (4,673 m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) to Millennium Camp (3,068 m)
Highlights: Midnight summit climb, sunrise at Uhuru Peak, breathtaking views
Start the climb just after midnight with headlamps lighting the way. Move slowly up the steep slopes, taking short breaks to handle the high altitude. Reach Stella Point (5,756 m) as the sunrise lights up the sky. Then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa! Celebrate your incredible achievement and enjoy views of glaciers, clouds, and the endless plains below. Afterward, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Millennium Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Today is the end of your amazing adventure. After breakfast, you’ll have time to relax and think back on your climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro. When it’s time, we will take you to the airport for your flight home, leaving Tanzania with wonderful memories and a strong sense of achievement. If you’re not ready to leave yet, you can extend your trip. You might choose a wildlife safari in the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater to see Africa’s famous animals in the wild. Or you can relax on Zanzibar’s white-sand beaches, with clear blue waters and rich Swahili culture. Whether you want more adventure, relaxation, or both, we can arrange the perfect extension just let us know, and we’ll handle everything for you.
