Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi National Park
Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi National Park
Your safari — an unforgettable encounter with the gentle giants of the forest. After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for registration and a detailed briefing, where you’ll be placed in a group of up to eight travelers and assigned a specific gorilla family to track, along with an expert guide.
Bring your passport for registration, sturdy waterproof hiking boots, a light rain jacket, and long trousers and sleeves to protect against nettles. Gardening gloves can help when grabbing vegetation, and most lodges provide a walking stick. A small waterproof backpack is ideal for carrying water, snacks, and camera protection.
After the briefing, drive to the trailhead to begin your trek. The hike can be challenging — steep, muddy, and unpredictable — lasting anywhere from 2 to 8 hours. But the reward is unforgettable: spending one magical hour observing mountain gorillas as they feed, play, and care for their young. Return to your lodge for a well-deserved meal and relaxation.
