Trekking From Machame Camp to Shira Camp 1
After breakfast, the trail leads upward toward Shira Camp, your second high-altitude stop. Today, the dense forest thins and the horizon opens to reveal the vast expanse of the Shira Plateau. Though the climb is moderate, the altitude begins to whisper its presence — move slowly, breathe deeply, and find your rhythm with the mountain. Upon reaching camp, you’ll rest and enjoy lunch before taking a short acclimatization hike toward Lava Tower, gaining about 400 meters. Returning to Shira Camp, a hot dinner awaits beneath a wide, starlit sky.

Trekking from Shira Camp to the Lava Tower and Descent to Barranco Camp
After breakfast, the trail rises steadily from Shira Camp toward one of the route’s defining landmarks the Lava Tower, standing proud at 4,600 meters. The path weaves through a rugged landscape of rock and sparse alpine vegetation, with several ascents and descents testing both endurance and rhythm. Reaching the tower, you’ll pause for lunch amid the thin air, an essential step in your body’s acclimatization to altitude.
Afterward, the route descends to Barranco Camp, nestled in a dramatic valley beneath the towering Barranco Wall. As the light fades, the wall glows gold and violet against the sky. Tomorrow, you’ll climb it a challenge more graceful than it appears, carved with simple trails that lead upward through stone and silence.

Trekking From Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp
The day begins early, with a hearty breakfast before tackling the Barranco Wall. Setting out at first light helps you move ahead of the crowds and enjoy the climb in quiet focus. Although steep, the ascent is more graceful than it appears a rhythmic scramble that takes about an hour. At the top, the reward is immense: sweeping views of the Kibo volcano and the vast plains far below.
From here, the trail winds toward Karanga Camp, a demanding stretch of rolling ascents and descents through a stark, wind-swept landscape. Your guide will set a steady pace, ensuring balance and proper acclimatisation. After a warm lunch and a short rest, the journey continues upward to Barafu Camp, the final base before your summit attempt. Dinner is served early, and the remainder of the evening is for rest, conserving strength for the long night ahead.

Day 5
Ascent to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Millennium Camp
Ascent to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Millennium Camp
The final ascent begins in darkness, as your team departs Barafu Camp under a canopy of stars. The air is thin, the cold biting each step a deliberate rhythm against the mountain’s stillness. Though the path is technically straightforward, the altitude makes every movement feel monumental. Each pair of climbers is guided closely, with personal attention to pace, breath, and spirit.
As the horizon begins to pale, you reach Uhuru Peak 5,895 meters above sea level, the highest point in Africa. The first light of dawn washes the glaciers in gold, and the world stretches endlessly beneath your feet. If you wish, you may descend briefly toward a nearby glacier before returning to Barafu Camp for a well-earned rest. After a short recovery, the descent continues to Millennium Camp, where warmth, thicker air, and quiet satisfaction await.
