You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning and transferred to Lemosho Gate, situated on Kilimanjaro’s western flank. After completing registration and obtaining the necessary permits, the climb begins steadily through the lush Lemosho forests, where mist drapes the trees and birdsong fills the air. The trail winds gently upward through glades and moss-covered paths, allowing your body to ease into the rhythm of the mountain. As the afternoon light filters through the canopy, you arrive at Big Tree Camp, a serene setting to rest, enjoy a warm meal, and reflect on the journey that lies ahead beneath Kilimanjaro’s looming presence.

Day 2

After breakfast, you leave the rainforest glades behind, ascending steadily along a trail that crosses a small valley before climbing a steep, rocky ridge blanketed in heather. The path twists and turns, revealing sweeping vistas of Kilimanjaro’s vast slopes, until the ridge finally ends and the trail bends west into a quiet river gorge. Here, the mountain’s vastness settles around you. At Shira Camp, you’ll rest, enjoy a warm dinner, and spend the night beneath the stars, preparing both body and spirit for the higher altitudes that await.

Day 3
Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

From the Shira Plateau, the trail rises east along a ridge, passing the junction toward Kibo Peak. Turning southeast, you approach the Lava Tower, known as the “Shark’s Tooth,” a striking landmark of the mountain. Shortly beyond, the path leads to the Arrow Glacier at 16,000 ft, a surreal landscape of ice and stone. The trail then descends to Barranco Hut at 13,000 ft, where you’ll rest, enjoy dinner, and spend the night. Though you finish the day near the same elevation as you started, this trek is vital for acclimatization, preparing your body and spirit for the summit challenge ahead.

Day 4
Baranco Camp to Karanga Camp

After breakfast, you leave Barranco Camp, ascending a steep ridge and passing beneath the towering Barranco Wall, its massive cliffs glowing in the morning light. The trail then winds gently down into the Karanga Valley, where Karanga Camp awaits. Though a short day, this stretch is vital for acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to the high altitude while soaking in the stark beauty of the alpine desert. Hiking about 3 miles over 4–5 hours, you’ll arrive in time to rest, share stories, and enjoy dinner beneath the expansive, star-filled sky.

Day 5
Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

After a restful night and a nourishing breakfast, you set out for Barafu Camp at 4,640 meters. The trail climbs across stark, desolate scree slopes, where the air is thin and the terrain rugged. The steep walk challenges both body and spirit, but the arrival at camp offers a chance to eat, rest, and prepare for the long night ahead. Hydration and warmth are essential. After an early dinner, sleep is vital, as you will rise between 11 PM and midnight to begin the final push toward Kilimanjaro’s summit.

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Rising around midnight, you begin the final ascent through steep scree toward the summit glaciers. Over 4–5 hours, each step takes you higher, the views growing more spectacular with every stride. Reach Stella Point at 5,739 meters as the first rays of sunlight illuminate the crater, ice cliffs, and the jagged Mawenzi Peak beyond. An hour later, you arrive at Uhuru Peak, 5,895 meters above sea level. The descent retraces your steps to Barafu for breakfast, then continues down to Millennium Camp, where a long, well-earned rest awaits, and the mountain’s quiet majesty lingers in your memory.

Day 7
Mweka Camp to Moshi/Arusha

After breakfast, the final descent leads through lush rainforest down to Mweka Gate, where you’ll be presented with your summit certificate, a lasting memento of your achievement. Lower elevations can be wet and muddy, so gaiters and trekking poles are useful, while shorts and t-shirts keep you comfortable. From the gate, the trail continues for about an hour to Mweka Village, where a vehicle awaits to transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. The journey concludes with a quiet sense of accomplishment and the enduring magic of Kilimanjaro etched into memory.
