Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative, who will assist with your luggage and drive you to your hotel in Kigali city. Spend the evening recovering from jet lag and preparing for the adventure ahead.

Day 2

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After breakfast, we depart for Nyungwe Forest National Park in southern Rwanda with a stopover in Huye for lunch. Huye hosts the Ethnographic Museum of Rwanda, formerly known as the National Museum of Rwanda. Learn about the culture and history of the Rwandan people, then continue to Nyungwe with an en route lunch.

Arrive later in the evening, check in at your lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy Walk

Today you take part in chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park. Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide, and head to the park headquarters, where you will receive a briefing on chimpanzee trekking, what to expect, and the proper way to behave.

The trek through the forest in search of chimpanzees takes approximately 2 to 4 hours, or longer, depending on the movement of these primates and where they spent the previous night. You will be allowed to spend only 1 hour in their presence, watching them play, feed, groom each other, and jump from one tree to another, among other activities. Later, trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Uwinka Centre for a canopy walk as you explore the park, be treated to fascinating views of the Nyungwe Forest Canopy, and spot several primate species as well as birds. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4

Colobus Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, head to the park again for colobus monkey trekking. Join other visitors for a briefing at the park headquarters and head into the forest. You will spend 1 hour with the beautiful colobus monkeys, and later depart for Volcanoes National Park in Northern Rwanda. Along the way, you will be treated to sights of Lake Kivu and winding roads.
Arrive at your lodge in the evening, check in, and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5

Gorillas in the Mist

Gorillas in the Mist

Today, we meet the mountain gorillas in the dense jungles of the Virunga Ranges.

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing about gorilla trekking and what to expect. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, then head into the forest searching for mountain gorillas.

The trek takes approximately 30 minutes to 4 hours or more, depending on the gorillas' movement and where they spent the previous night. You are allowed to spend 1 hour with the gorillas, watching them feed, groom each other, play and learn more about their life in the forest.

Later, trek back to the park headquarters, meet your guide and return to your lodge for lunch. In the evening, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians’ Village to interact with the local people, be entertained by local dances and drama, and interact with the elders.

Golden Monkey Trekking and Transfer to Akagera National Park

After a delicious breakfast, return to the park for golden monkey trekking. After the briefing, you will head into the forest looking for these beautiful primates living in the bamboo forests. Spend 1 hour with these playful primates as they feed and jump from one tree branch to another.

After this incredible primate experience, leave for Akagera National Park, with short stopovers along the way for photos and washroom use.

Day 7

Explore Akagera National Park

Explore Akagera National Park

Today, you will explore Rwanda’s only savannah national park, Akagera, located in northeastern Rwanda on the border with Tanzania.

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide, and head to Akagera for a full-day game drive. During the morning game drive, look out for elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks, bushbucks and lions, among others. Game drives in Akagera National Park usually take place in the Northern sector.

Enjoy lunch at your lodge and later go for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema. As you calmly sail, you will see herds of elephants and buffalo along the shores of the lake, and several waterbirds, such as herons, as well as crocodiles and hippos, in the waters of the lake. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
