Kigali to Akagera National Park to Volcanoes NP

Your driver guide will pick you up from your Kigali hotel at 05:00 AM after an early breakfast. Enjoy a beautiful drive east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s premier wildlife sanctuary. Upon arrival, take a morning boat cruise on Lake Ihema to view hippos, crocodiles, and colorful birds. Continue with a game drive through the park’s northern plains in search of elephants, giraffes, zebras, and lions. In the afternoon, exit the park and travel north to Volcanoes National Park, located in the lush Virunga highlands. Overnight at Ingagi Park View Lodge or similar

Gorilla Trekking Volcanoes NP and Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, proceed to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a pre-trek briefing. Set out on a guided trek through the misty rainforest to encounter one of Rwanda’s mountain gorilla families. Spend an awe-inspiring hour observing their behavior and interactions up close—a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch before transferring back to Kigali, where you will be dropped at your hotel or the airport for your outbound flight.
