Day 1
Nairobi to Masai mara national reserve
Nairobi to Masai mara national reserve
After breakfast at the lodge, you'll drive to Masai Mara, home to the great migration. Each year, between July and October, millions of wildebeest thunder across the plains in search of fresh pasture. The Masai Mara is one of the most famous game reserves in the world. From November to June, the Masai Mara still has one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa, so the Big Five can all be ticked off your list on a visit here. You’ll also see huge pods of hippos basking in the rivers, cheetahs racing across the savannah and giraffes ambling between the acacia trees.

Exploring Masai mara National Reserve
After breakfast, your day will be spent exploring the park in search of the “Big Five” and trailing the wildebeest migration. The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that you can never take in everything. Over 450 species of birds have been recorded in the reserve. You will easily see lion, rhino, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, warthog, hyena, jackal, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelope and elephant.
It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savannah, including lion, cheetah, jackal, hyena and vulture. Later in the day, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Exploring Serengeti National park
Exploring Serengeti National park
After breakfast at the camp, we'll set out to explore the vast expanse of the Serengeti. Wildlife sightings typically peak in the early mornings and late afternoons when the temperature cools. The multitude and diversity of wildlife species in this huge protected area are unrivaled anywhere on the planet. Serengeti is a Maasai word that means “endless plain”. We’ll return to the camp in between the game-viewing drives for lunch at the main dining tent.
In the afternoon, after relaxation, we’ll head out on our game-viewing drive. Our guides will again help us identify the more elusive animal species, such as bat-eared fox and golden jackal, as well as rare birds like the purple grenadier and the red-cheeked cordon bleu. See if you can spot the odd-looking secretary bird or the elegant grey-crowned crane.
We will return for dinner at the main dining tent.
