1-Day Mountain Gorilla Trekking

• A transfer from the airport can be arranged for an extra cost.

At 4:30 AM, a Makisala driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali after an early breakfast. You will then begin the scenic journey to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda’s northwest, a drive of just over two hours.

Upon arrival at the park headquarters in Kinigi around 7:30 AM, you will receive your gorilla trekking briefing and be assigned the gorilla family you will visit. A park ranger will explain the guidelines and protocols for trekking and observing the gorillas. After the briefing, your driver-guide will transfer you to the starting point of your trek.

Your trek will take you through the forest in search of your assigned gorilla family. Once you meet them, you will spend a magical hour observing and photographing these incredible primates in their natural habitat.

After the trek, you will return to meet your driver-guide, who will transfer you back to Kigali where you will be dropped off in location of your choosing.
