Your adventure begins with a warm welcome in Kigali, Rwanda’s clean and vibrant capital. After a short briefing by your driver-guide, you’ll set off on a scenic drive toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in southwestern Uganda — home to the world’s endangered mountain gorillas.

The journey offers breathtaking landscapes, from the rolling hills of Rwanda to the lush, green highlands of Uganda. Along the way, you may stop at the Rwanda–Uganda border (Katuna or Cyanika) for immigration formalities before continuing through local villages and terraced farms.

Arrive at Bwindi in the late afternoon, where the cool mountain air and the misty forest canopy welcome you to one of Africa’s most remarkable wildernesses. Settle into your lodge situated at the edge of the forest, surrounded by the sounds of nature and the calls of distant primates and birds.

Enjoy dinner and relax by the fireplace, preparing for the incredible gorilla trekking experience awaiting you tomorrow.

Lifetime Gorilla Trekking Experience

After an early breakfast, head to the Bwindi park headquarters for a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Experienced rangers will guide you through the rules and expectations of gorilla trekking, one of the world’s most profound wildlife encounters.
Venture into the heart of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, navigating through thick vegetation and misty trails in search of a mountain gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements, but the moment you find them — observing their gentle behavior and human-like expressions — makes every step worthwhile. You’ll spend up to one magical hour with the gorillas, capturing memories that last a lifetime.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and a short rest before beginning your scenic drive back to Kigali. Cross the border, enjoying the rolling hills and rural charm along the way. You’ll arrive in Kigali in the evening, marking the end of an unforgettable two-day gorilla adventure.
