Tarangire is known for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, a diverse landscape of seasonal swamps, acacia woodlands, and sweeping savannahs, all nourished by the Tarangire River—the park’s vital water source and With over 500 bird species, the park is one of Tanzania’s premier birding destinations. Guests can spot an impressive range of animals including lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, eland, oryx, and even the rare long-necked gerenuk. Tarangire is also famous for its tree-climbing lions.
