Fly From Addis Ababa-Semera-Hamad Ela

Fly from Addis Ababa to Semera. Upon arrival, drive 5–6 hours toward Hamed Ela.
On the way, stop at Lake Afdera for lunch and, if you wish, enjoy a refreshing swim in the salt lake.

In the late afternoon, continue to the camp village. This evening, visit Lake Asale and its vast salt flats. Enjoy a drink (wine or beer) while watching the golden sunset and swimming in the salt lake.
Overnight: Open-air camping at Hamed Ela.

Dallol – Erta Ale Volcano

After breakfast, drive to the spectacular, colorful landscapes of Dallol, located about 125 meters below sea level, one of the lowest points on Earth.
After sightseeing, continue driving to Erta Ale, one of Ethiopia’s most famous volcanoes and among the few places in the world with a permanent lava lake. The drive takes about 4 hours through lava fields, desert sand, and scattered Afar settlements.
Arrive at the Erta Ale base camp in the afternoon. After a short rest and early dinner, begin a 1-hour trek to the rim of the volcano before sunset.
Spend time at the crater watching the dramatic lava activity. Later, trek back to the campsite and sleep under the stars.
Overnight: Basic open-air camp.

Erta Ale – Semera- Fly Back Addis Ababa

Early morning visit to the Erta Ale crater again to witness the lava activity at sunrise.
After breakfast, drive about 2 hours to Afdera, visit the village of the small Town Afdera then continue 3.5 hours on an asphalt road to Semera.
Fly from Semera back to Addis Ababa.
