Day 2

After breakfast, depart Entebbe for the long but rewarding drive to the southwestern highlands. The road takes you through lush countryside, roadside markets, and rolling farmlands. You’ll pause at the Equator for photos before continuing into the scenic Kigezi region, sometimes called the “Switzerland of Africa” due to its terraced hills and dramatic landscapes. Arriving in the late afternoon, check in at Gorilla Safari Lodge, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the forest. Enjoy dinner with misty views of the Bwindi mountains.

You’ll trek through thick vegetation, listening for rustling leaves and distant calls as you search for a gorilla family. Upon finding them, spend an unforgettable hour watching their interactions—juveniles playing, mothers caring for young, and silverbacks keeping watch. After this once-in-a-lifetime encounter, return to the lodge to relax for the afternoon, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Once forest dwellers who lived harmoniously in Bwindi, the Batwa share their rich traditions through storytelling, dance, music, and demonstrations of their ancient skills. Walk with them along forest trails as they explain medicinal plants, traditional hunting techniques, and life before the forest became a national park. The experience offers a meaningful glimpse into one of Africa’s oldest cultures. Return to Gorilla Safari Lodge for dinner and your final night in Bwindi.
