Journey to To Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (7 hours)

OOn arrival at Entebbe International Airport (EBB), you will be warmly welcomed by a Trek Safaris representative for a short briefing before beginning your journey. You will then set off on a scenic drive of approximately 7 hours, with a lunch stop en route. Along the way, enjoy changing landscapes ranging from tropical rainforests and open savannahs to the rolling, terraced hills of Kigezi—often referred to as the Switzerland of East Africa.

Upon arrival in Bwindi, check in at your lodge and, if you wish, visit the Batwa community for a cultural experience that offers insight into the lives and traditions of these forest people. The remainder of the day is at leisure as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for Canoe Ride

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a briefing by expert guides and trackers on gorilla trekking rules and etiquette. You will then trek into the forest to locate a habituated mountain gorilla family, guided by trackers using the previous night’s nesting site.

The trek can take 1–6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location and terrain, which may be steep and muddy. A moderate level of fitness is required, but the reward is an unforgettable encounter with mountain gorillas in Uganda in their natural rainforest habitat.

Carry drinking water and wear sturdy hiking shoes, long trousers, and rain gear, as weather can change suddenly. After the trek, transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a well-deserved rest. The afternoon is spent at leisure, with optional light activities such as a gentle canoe ride, short lakeside walk, bird watching, or simply enjoying the scenic views and sunset over the hills.

Transfer back to Entebbe

After an early breakfast, begin your return journey to Entebbe International Airport (EBB). The drive takes you through Uganda’s scenic countryside, with a planned stop at the Equator crossing after Masaka. Here, you can take photos, browse local craft shops for souvenirs, and enjoy lunch.

You will then continue the journey to Entebbe, arriving in time for your onward flight.
