Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you’ll be collected from your hotel and depart for Tarangire National Park, a reserve defined by the life-giving Tarangire River that winds through its landscape. In the dry season, this river draws wildlife from far and wide, creating outstanding game-viewing opportunities. The park features a striking mix of habitats, from towering elephant grass and open acacia woodland to dense groundwater forests. Renowned for its impressive elephant herds often gathered along the riverbanks, Tarangire is also home to giraffes, bushbuck, and hartebeest, with lions and leopards frequently seen. With an extraordinary variety of birdlife, it holds the distinction of having one of the highest concentrations of breeding bird species anywhere in the world.

Day 3

Central serengeti to Ndutu

Central serengeti to Ndutu

A journey through the Southern Serengeti places you at the heart of the Great Migration, with daily game drives revealing one of nature’s most extraordinary events. Early in the year, the green plains come alive with newborn wildebeest finding their footing, while later months see immense herds beginning their long trek north toward the Masai Mara. This region uniquely showcases the migration’s entire rhythm—from the herds’ return with the December rains, through the calving season of January and February, to their gradual departure as the landscape dries at the close of the wet season.

Because wildlife movements here are seasonal, accommodation is limited. The area has only a handful of permanent lodges and a single permanent tented camp, complemented by a selection of mobile camps—ranging from simple to luxurious—that operate during the peak migration period.

Ndutu (Southern Serengeti NP)

Ndutu

Kick off the day with an early morning bush breakfast on a game drive, exploring the diverse landscapes of the Ndutu Conservation Area. From marshlands and acacia woodlands to the soda lakes of Ndutu and Masek, and the vast Serengeti plains, each area offers unique wildlife sightings. The marshes are a favourite spot for big cats raising their young, while the short grass plains are where wildebeest give birth during the Great Migration. As evening falls, relax with a drink, sharing stories at the bar before returning to your cottage, where the distant call of hyenas sets the tone for a peaceful, tsetse-free night.

During the 5-hour game drive, you'll witness elephants, buffalo, black rhinos, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and lions in their natural habitat, so keep your camera ready!
