Your picnic lunch is enjoyed in a scenic spot within the reserve, surrounded by the sounds of nature. Day 6
Serengeti To Ngorongoro Highlands
Serengeti To Ngorongoro Highlands
This morning begins with a final Serengeti game drive as you slowly make your way toward Ngorongoro. Morning hours are ideal for spotting wildlife, as the cooler temperatures encourage movement and predator activity. You may encounter lions feeding after a night hunt, cheetahs scanning the plains, hyenas interacting in clans, or elephants making their way to water points.
Along the route, your guide may stop at scenic places such as the Retina Hippo Pool or the rocky outcrops (kopjes) where lions often rest. As you leave the Serengeti behind, the landscape gradually transforms — the open plains give way to rolling hills, forests, and highlands.
By the afternoon, you reach the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and settle into your lodge located on or near the crater rim. The air here is fresher and cooler, and the views of the crater highlands are spectacular. After a relaxing evening and dinner, you prepare for the next day’s unforgettable crater descent.

Full Day Ngorongoro Crater
Today you explore the legendary Ngorongoro Crater, often described as Africa’s Garden of Eden. After an early breakfast, you descend 600 meters into the crater through lush forests filled with birds and monkeys. The crater floor opens into a breathtaking landscape of open grasslands, lakes, swamps, and woodland areas.
Wildlife here is incredibly abundant. This is one of the best places in Africa to see the rare black rhino, along with lions, hyenas, elephants, buffalos, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, and countless bird species. Because animals remain within the crater year-round.
You enjoy a picnic lunch at Ngoitoktok Hippo Pool, a peaceful setting where hippos wallow in the water and birds gather along the edges. After lunch, you continue your exploration before eventually ascending the crater rim and beginning your drive back to Arusha or directly to Kilimanjaro Airport. This marks the end of your incredible cross-border safari adventure.
