Depart from Addis Ababa and fly or drive to Gondar, then continue to Debark, the gateway to Simien Mountains National Park. At the park headquarters, obtain your trekking permit and meet your obligatory scout. Begin your trek from Buytras (Simien Lodge) toward the Sankabar campsite at 3,250 meters above sea level. The 3–4 hour walk introduces you to stunning mountain scenery and wildlife, including your first Gelada baboons. The Sankabar campsite offers breathtaking panoramic views and a peaceful introduction to the highlands. Evening around the campfire allows time to relax and enjoy the mountain air.

Day 2
Sankabar – Geech via Jinbar Waterfall
Sankabar – Geech via Jinbar Waterfall
Start early for a scenic trek from Sankabar to Geech, following a route that passes the spectacular Jinbar Waterfall. The trek lasts 5–7 hours and includes a descent to the Jinbar Wenz river followed by a short ascent to Geech village. The campsite, located at 3,600 meters above sea level, offers dramatic views of the surrounding mountains and fields of giant lobelia plants. The nearby Kedadit summit provides a perfect vantage point for a stunning sunset. Along the trail, enjoy encounters with endemic wildlife and panoramic vistas of the Simien massif, making this day a highlight of the trekking experience.

Day 3
Geech – Imet Gogo – Ambaras – Gondar
Geech – Imet Gogo – Ambaras – Gondar
On the final day, trek from Geech to the Imet Gogo promontory, one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Simien Mountains, where you can observe Lammergeier vultures soaring above the cliffs. After soaking in the panoramic scenery, descend toward the road near Ambaras village, where your vehicle awaits for the drive back to Gondar. The trek takes approximately 4–5 hours and offers more opportunities to spot wildlife while enjoying the highland landscapes. Conclude your adventure in Gondar, reflecting on the breathtaking scenery and unforgettable experiences of Ethiopia’s northern highlands.
