Day 2

Your Bavuma Wild Quest guide will pick you up from your accommodation after breakfast and you’ll begin the scenic drive to Tarangire National Park a journey of about two and a half hours along mostly good tarmac roads.

Tarangire is named after the Tarangire River, the park’s lifeline that sustains wildlife during the dry season and attracts huge concentrations of animals. The park is famed for its large elephant herds and striking ancient baobab trees, some of which have stood for centuries. You’ll also enjoy sightings of giraffes, hartebeest, bushbuck, and many other grazers, closely followed by predators such as lions and leopards.

Lunch will be served at a picnic site inside the park. After your game drive, you’ll transfer to your accommodation in Mto wa Mbu to relax and reflect on a day filled with spectacular safari sightings.

After breakfast, you’ll head into the cool highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to visit the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera formed millions of years ago. Encircled by towering crater walls, this remarkable ecosystem shelters a rich mix of wildlife including large herds of grazing animals, predators, and rare species such as the endangered black rhinoceros.

The crater floor’s mosaic of grasslands, woodlands, lakes, and marshes supports one of the highest wildlife densities in Africa, making every game drive here truly memorable.

After exploring the crater’s abundant wildlife and dramatic landscapes, your journey continues through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti is one of the most breathtaking wildlife destinations on Earth, defined by its endless open grasslands where animals roam freely across vast plains. The park is world-renowned for the Great Migration, a continuous movement of over a million wildebeest, thousands of zebras, gazelles, and other herbivores as they follow seasonal rains in search of fresh grazing a spectacle that plays out year-round and varies by location and season.

Beyond the migration, the rolling Serengeti plains offer excellent opportunities to encounter predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, as well as countless other species in their natural environment. This encounter with raw, wild nature is truly a life-changing experience that stays with you long after your safari ends.

In the afternoon, you will begin your return journey toward Mto wa Mbu, hoping to enjoy even more incredible wildlife sightings along the way!

Lake Manyara National Park to Arusha

After breakfast, you depart for Lake Manyara National Park, a scenic and diverse reserve located about 120 km west of Arusha. Despite its compact size, the park offers an impressive range of habitats — from lush groundwater forests and open grasslands to acacia woodlands and the shimmering alkaline lake that gives the park its name. Lake Manyara is a haven for birdlife, famous for its flamingos and a wide variety of waterbirds and forest species.

Wildlife viewing is equally rewarding, with opportunities to see elephants, giraffes, buffalo, baboons, antelope, and other plains game. Hippos are often seen resting near the lake shore, while birds of prey circle overhead.

You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park, surrounded by its natural beauty. After your game drive, your Bavuma Wild Quest guide will transfer you to your preferred drop-off point — Arusha town, Arusha Airport, or Kilimanjaro International Airport — bringing your safari to a smooth and memorable close.
