Day 1

Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha at the foothills of Mt Meru

Arrival in Tanzania – Arusha at the foothills of Mt Meru

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you are warmly welcomed by your Nandi Adventures safari guide and transferred to Arusha. This vibrant town sits beneath Mount Meru and serves as the gateway to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit.
The remainder of the day is intentionally relaxed. After a long journey, this is an opportunity to unwind, enjoy the hotel gardens or views, and adjust to the African pace. Your guide will provide a comprehensive safari briefing, outlining the route, daily routines, wildlife expectations, and answering any questions regarding photography, park regulations, or personal interests.
Traveling during the green season means fewer vehicles, quieter parks, and dramatic scenery — an advantage that will become increasingly evident as the safari progresses.

Tarangire National Park – Karatu

After breakfast, depart Arusha for Tarangire National Park, arriving mid-morning for an extended game drive with picnic lunch.
Tarangire is particularly rewarding during the green season. The park’s landscapes are lush, rivers flow freely, and wildlife disperses naturally, creating excellent photographic conditions. Large elephant families remain a highlight, along with giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and a wide variety of bird species. Lions are frequently encountered, often resting in the shade of acacia trees or along riverbanks.
Your guide will take time to explore different sections of the park, adapting the route based on animal movement rather than fixed schedules. After the game drive, continue toward the fertile highlands of Karatu, passing small villages and coffee farms.
Karatu’s cooler climate and scenic setting provide a comfortable base before entering the Serengeti ecosystem.

Karatu – Central Serengeti National Park

An early departure takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, ascending into misty highlands before descending onto the endless plains of the Central Serengeti, also known as the Seronera region.

This area is the year-round heart of the Serengeti, renowned for its permanent water sources that support abundant wildlife even during quieter months. Upon entering the park, you begin your first Serengeti game drive en route to camp, with a packed lunch enjoyed in a scenic location.

Expect sightings of resident lion prides, leopards lounging in acacia trees, cheetahs scanning the plains, and large herds of plains game. The green season enhances contrast and color, making this an excellent time for photography and relaxed wildlife observation.

Arrive at your camp in the late afternoon and enjoy the sounds of the Serengeti as evening settles across the plains.

Central Serengeti – Full Day Exploration

Central Serengeti – Full Day Exploration

Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the Central Serengeti, allowing for unhurried and flexible game drives.

This region offers exceptional predator density throughout the year. Lions are frequently observed hunting or interacting socially, while leopards are often found along riverine areas such as the Seronera River. Cheetahs thrive in the open plains, and hyenas are commonly encountered.

Your guide will tailor the day based on recent sightings, weather conditions, and your interests — whether that means focusing on big cats, following a particular pride, or spending time observing animal behavior rather than moving constantly.

A picnic lunch is enjoyed in the bush, followed by continued exploration in the afternoon. The green season’s softer light and dramatic skies create memorable safari moments before returning to camp for dinner.

Predator Encounters & Plains Game

Predator Encounters & Plains Game

Another full day in Central Serengeti allows deeper exploration of different territories within the park. This is often when some of the most memorable encounters occur, as time allows patterns to emerge and sightings to be revisited.

You may track a lion pride over several hours, observe cheetahs teaching cubs to hunt, or encounter leopards on early morning patrol. Large herds of zebras and wildebeest remain scattered across the plains, providing constant movement and interaction.

Your guide will balance morning and afternoon game drives with time to relax, ensuring the experience remains immersive rather than rushed. As the day ends, enjoy a final Serengeti sunset from camp — one of Africa’s most iconic experiences.

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater - Cradle of Humanity

After breakfast, depart the Serengeti and travel back toward the Ngorongoro Crater, descending into the crater floor for a half-day game drive. The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife destinations. With its dense concentration of wildlife and dramatic landscapes, it’s often called “Africa’s Eden.”

The crater’s enclosed ecosystem supports an extraordinary concentration of wildlife, including black rhinos, large lion prides, elephants, buffalo, hippos, and numerous bird species. The compact nature of the crater allows for diverse sightings within a relatively short period.

After a picnic lunch near a hippo pool, ascend the crater rim and continue to Karatu for your final overnight.
