Arusha City, situated in the northern highlands of Tanzania, lies beneath the twin peaks of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, making it the safari capital of the country. Guests embarking on the popular northern safari circuit all stop here to prepare for their journeys into the African bush. Established by the Germans as a centre for colonial administration in the early 20th century, today Arusha is one of the country’s most prosperous towns and a major centre of Tanzanian diplomacy and international relations – lending it its nickname, the ‘Geneva of Africa’.

It’s also the calving season for many animals (January – February).

On arrival at the park, you will first experience the Lake Manyara Treetop Walkway – a guided walk along a 370m series of suspension bridges 18m off the ground that will provide you a unique birds-eye view of the world around you, while spotting all kinds of butterflies, birds, and monkeys – before the start of your full day of wildlife viewing drive, with lunch today taken as a picnic.
