We start our journey with a drive south-west to the Namib Naukluft Park, one of the most scenic landscapes in Namibia. In 1966 "Game Reserve No. 3" was de-proclaimed, and the Namib Desert Park was established in its stead.
The Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park was included such that the Naukluft Mountains now formed part of the protected area. It previously comprised 14 commercial farms that were bought by government to protect the Hartmann Mountain zebra.
On route to the Sesriem area, which is the gateway to the mighty dunes of Sossusvlei, we will pass Kuiseb and Gaub mountain passes, where will also have brief stops to take more of Namibia’s beauty in.

Today we have reached the end of our journey and head back to the capital city Windhoek via a few small settlements in the southern part, and the town of Rehoboth. We stop in Klein-Aub for a unique coffee tasting experience around noon, before transiting to Windhoek, as we hope for a late afternoon arrival.
There are lots of attractive green areas in the centre of Windhoek flanked by both modern buildings and fine German-colonial architecture. This city in Namibia is clean and orderly and the pace of life is busy but not overwhelming.
Historically known as a residential area for racial segregation during apartheid, Katutura symbolizes Namibia’s dark past (and even in some way present). While the city has left that chapter more or less behind, Katatura became the backbone of Windhoek.
