Your journey begins with a 6:00 AM pickup from your hotel or the airport, heading down the scenic Nairobi-Mombasa Road. As you travel through Eastern Kenya, enjoy the changing landscapes, vibrant local cultures, and glimpses of wildlife along the way. After approximately four hours, you will stop at Mtito Andei for a brief refreshment and fueling.

The drive continues for another hour to Voi, where you transition onto the Taita /Taveta road. Flanked / by the vast expanses of Tsavo West Park, you will arrive at Taita Hills Resort for a delicious lunch in an elegant setting. Afterward, a short drive brings you to Salt Lick Safari Lodge. After checking in, head out for an afternoon drive to explore the sanctuary. Your day concludes with a sumptuous buffet dinner overlooking the lodge waterhole for a scenic view.

Taita Hills Conservancy back to Mombasa

Early Morning game drive in Taita hills Conservancy.

Depart for an early morning game drive from 6am to 9am exploring the vast Taita Hills Game Sanctuary. This private sanctuary is located right next to Tsavo West, so it’s an easy hop to get here. The landscape in this park is more verdant than Tsavo, and the game viewing is every bit as good. The sanctuary offers good bird watching but that isn’t Taita Hills’ main attraction. A unique aspect of this small park is the rangers here usually have a very good idea where the larger animals can be found. It’s not unheard of for safari-goers to spot over a dozen species on a game drive. This time in the morning the big cats are very alert with a possible sighting. At 9am you will return to the lodge for breakfast and thereafter depart the park game drive en-route with a drop off at the hotel/ Airport.
