5-Day Rwanda Golden Monkeys and Bwindi Gorilla Safari

Arrival and transfer to the hotel

On this first day of your Rwanda and Uganda safari, you will be warmly welcomed at Kigali International Airport and transferred to your hotel in Kigali. Depending on your time of arrival, your private safari driver can take you to the restaurant for you to have lunch, enjoy the views of the hilly Kigali, and later drive to the hotel. He will give you a briefing of the safari, and later allow you to settle in at the hotel and relax.

Genocide memorial and transfer to Musanze, gorilla guardians experience

You will wake up to the beautiful sounds of birds and the bright city. Prepare your bags, have breakfast, and check out. You will visit the Genocide memorial, where you will learn more about the 1994 Rwanda genocide, which claimed thousands of people, and it will also give an insight into Rwanda’s reconciliation efforts and growth. From here, you will set off to Musanze, and when you get to the lodge, you will check in, have lunch, and later head out to the Gorilla Guardians village. The members of the village will entertain you with cultural performances featuring music, dance, storytelling, and a presentation of the traditional Rwandan wedding. In the evening, you will drive back to your lodge, have dinner, and relax as you reflect on the day's rewards of history, culture and nature.

Golden monkey trekking and transfer to Bwindi

Considering the program of the day, you will be required to have your luggage packed before heading to the restaurant for breakfast. Enjoy your breakfast and bid farewell to the lodge staff. You will drive to the park offices for a briefing about golden monkey trekking, where you will also meet the guides who will lead you through the trek. The experience can last 2 to 4 hours, after which you will set off to Bwindi, driving through the Cyanika border. Upon arrival, you will check into your booked lodge, have lunch, and spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural experience

This is an exciting day of gorilla trekking, which will start with a delicious breakfast at the lodge, and you will receive packed food to carry for the trek. This is intended for having amidst the trek if it takes longer. Ensure to carry enough drinking water and snacks to keep you energized.
You will drive to the park offices for a briefing, after which you will set off to the forest to search for the allocated gorilla family. After spotting them, you will stay with them for an hour, take photos, observe how they behave, and thereafter leave the forest. Later in the afternoon, you will visit the Batwa people for a cultural experience that offers insight into their traditional way of living and history. As the day ends, you will return to the lodge, have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Drive back to Kigali and proceed to the airport

After a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, bid farewell to Bwindi and set off to Kigali. If your departure is in the evening, you can opt to do a nature walk at Bwindi in the morning or go shopping in Kigali. Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your driver will assist you with the departure check in, and we will close it with safe travel wishes.
