Nairobi to Amboseli

Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your Nairobi hotel or the airport, followed by a scenic drive south toward Amboseli National Park. As you travel through Maasai country, you’ll enjoy views of open plains and distant hills, with Mount Kilimanjaro gradually coming into sight on clear days. You’ll arrive in Amboseli late morning and proceed on a game drive en route to your lodge or tented camp. After check-in and lunch, you’ll have time to relax before heading out for an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is renowned for its large herds of elephants, often seen moving gracefully across the plains with Mount Kilimanjaro as a stunning backdrop. You may also spot lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and a wide variety of birdlife. As the sun sets, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Amboseli Full Day

After an early breakfast, you’ll head out for a morning game drive when wildlife is most active and the lighting is ideal for photography. This is the best time to capture iconic views of elephants beneath Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as spot predators returning from a night hunt. You’ll explore different areas of the park, including swamps fed by underground springs from the mountain, which attract elephants, hippos, and numerous bird species year-round. You’ll return to the lodge for lunch and some leisure time, enjoying the views or relaxing at the camp. In the afternoon, you’ll head out again for another game drive, allowing you to experience Amboseli’s changing landscapes and wildlife behavior as the day cools. You’ll return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight, with the sounds of the African wilderness around you.

Amboseli back to Nairobi

Enjoy breakfast and check out of the hotel and hop into your land cruiser. You’ll then begin the drive back to Nairobi, with a stop along the way for lunch and refreshments. You’ll arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon or early evening and be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of a memorable Amboseli safari filled with incredible wildlife encounters and breathtaking scenery.
