Your safari guide will meet you on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) and transfer you to your lodge in Arusha. After check-in, take time to unwind from your journey and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Later, you’ll receive a short safari briefing to prepare for the exciting days of wildlife and culture ahead.

Day 2

After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park through Maasai plains dotted with acacia trees. Enjoy a full-day game drive in one of Tanzania’s most underrated wildlife gems—famous for large elephant herds, giant baobab trees, and strong predator presence. Expect zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, giraffe, and plenty of birdlife, with chances for lions and leopards depending on the day. Picnic lunch inside the park. Later, drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart for Ndutu, located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and part of the southern Serengeti ecosystem. The drive passes through beautiful highland and Rift Valley scenery. On arrival, begin game viewing in the Ndutu region—an area of open plains, acacia woodlands, and seasonal lakes that attract wildlife year-round. During migration months, the plains often fill with wildebeest and zebra herds.

Ndutu Calving Season Game Drives
Today is dedicated to a full-day game drive in Ndutu. Explore varied habitats—short-grass plains, swamps, woodlands, and soda lakes—while following the migration herds and searching for predators. Around January, the calving season peaks and the plains can become a stage for intense wildlife drama as predators take advantage of the abundance of newborns. Return to camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, enjoy an en-route game drive as you travel toward the Ngorongoro area. Arrive at the crater rim and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a memorable game drive in one of Africa’s most wildlife-dense natural arenas. Expect zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephant, hippos, hyenas, and strong chances of lions—plus the possibility of the rare black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater before ascending and continuing to your lodge in Karatu for dinner and overnight.

Manyara Farewell Game Drive & Departure Transfer
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a half-day game drive. Though small, Manyara is incredibly diverse—lush forest, open plains, and a shallow soda lake that attracts flamingos and over 500 bird species. Look out for baboons, blue monkeys, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and (with luck) the park’s famous tree-climbing lions. After lunch, transfer to Arusha, JRO, or ARK for your onward journey.
