You will be picked up from Kigali and begin a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park, enjoying views of Rwanda’s rolling hills along the way. Upon arrival, visit the Gorilla Guardians Village for an enriching cultural experience, where you will learn about traditional Rwandan lifestyles, local dances, and conservation efforts. After the visit, transfer to your lodge near the park for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.

Gorilla Trekking Adventure in Volcanoes National Park

Day 2 is the highlight of your Rwanda safari with an unforgettable encounter with mountain gorillas. After an early breakfast, drive to Kinigi Park Headquarters for registration and a briefing on trekking rules. Trek through bamboo forests, grasslands, and volcanic slopes for 30 minutes to several hours, guided by rangers and porters. Spend one hour observing gorillas feeding, grooming, and interacting, then return to the lodge for lunch, relaxation, and dinner, reflecting on this extraordinary experience.

Hike to the Dian Fossey Tomb & Karisoke Research Center

Day 3 is a meaningful hike to honor Dian Fossey’s legacy in mountain gorilla conservation. After breakfast, drive to Volcanoes National Park for a briefing, then trek 2–4 hours through montane forest, bamboo, and clearings rich in wildlife. Visit the Dian Fossey Tomb and Karisoke Research Center ruins, reflecting on her work and gorilla protection. Return to the lodge for lunch, with afternoon options for community visits, nature walks, or Twin Lakes, ending with dinner and reflection.

Golden Monkey Trekking & Transfer Back to Kigali

Day 4 concludes your Volcanoes National Park adventure with a golden monkey trek and a scenic drive back to Kigali.

After breakfast, check out and head to Kinigi Park Headquarters for registration and a briefing on observing golden monkeys. The trek through bamboo forests at the Virunga foothills lasts 1–3 hours. Golden monkeys are playful and easier to track than gorillas, allowing close-up viewing and photography without flash.

After the trek, collect your luggage and drive back to Kigali, passing rolling hills, villages, and tea plantations. Lunch is en route or in Kigali, followed by transfers to the airport, hotel, or a short city tour, ending this unforgettable primate adventure.
