Windhoek to the Namib Desert

Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from Windhoek Airport or hotel. Travel southwest through Namibia’s striking landscapes, passing semi-arid plains and rocky outcrops en route to Hammeeset Lodge, your desert base for the next two nights. Upon arrival, check in and enjoy a refreshing welcome drink while taking in panoramic desert views. In the afternoon, embark on a guided scenic drive through the surrounding desert environment, spotting desert-adapted wildlife such as oryx, springbok, and ostrich. Learn about the flora and fauna that survive in this extreme environment from your guide. Return to the lodge in time for dinner under the stars, enjoying the peaceful ambiance of the Namib Desert and the soft glow of the lodge’s lanterns.

Desert Exploration

Rise early for a stunning sunrise excursion over the iconic Namib dunes, when the desert is at its most magical and the lighting perfect for photography. After breakfast at the lodge, spend the day exploring the desert with a combination of 4x4 scenic drives and guided walks. Visit unique geological formations, hidden canyons, and ancient desert tracks while learning about the history, culture, and geology of the area. Spot wildlife and birds that thrive in the arid landscape. Return to Hammeeset Lodge in the late afternoon to relax by the lodge or its viewing deck before dinner. Optional activities include stargazing, as the Namib Desert offers some of the clearest night skies in the world.
